Roadglide questions

I know there are a few Roadglide owners on here but not many. I'm about to buy a pre-Rushmore Roadglide custom and have a deposit down until I have time to collect it. Looking at a few changes already so have a few questions for those in the know.

    1) Seat. I'm gonna try the oem seat first but usually find aftermarket seats provide better comfort. Looking at mustang which I have always found to be excellent but they  sit you almost two inches further back. Not sure I want to be further back.  Also looking at saddlemen and Harley seats too. Thoughts, experiences? Will also get a removable rider back rest no matter which seat.

    2) Handlebars. These will be changed right after I am happy with seating as the oem bars do not have enough pullback. Looking at pullback riser options and also the wild one 517 handle bars in addition to their 10 inch and 12 inch mini apes. Just want comfortable reach for me and I'm 6'1" tall.

    3) I know the oem screen is too short for me. Want a screen to look over but also offer decent wind protection and minimise buffet. Forum sponsor long rider shields with their discount looks to be best priced. But also looking at clear view screens which add an adjustable vent option which could be good to allow some airflow in summer and similar to the Rushmore venting, they reckon the venting eliminates that low air pressure vaccum immediately behind the screen. What do people suggest with screens?

Forgot to ask about fairing lowers too and if worth having. Looking at aftermarket hard lowers that are vented for use in summer and winter. Reasonably priced if you don't buy the Harley ones!

Thanks china. You and ballofski are two roadgliders I remember on here so hoping you'd chime in. Also hoping other tourer owners can chime in about parts shared among the tourer models. I saw in a pic that Timmy added hard fairing lowers to his street glide for example.

Yeah I've read heaps on that road glide forum and got some good ideas there but it's still nice to get advice from local blokes who you tend to know from a local forum.

I'd researched and considered the madstad screen and agree it might be the best but I think it's too ugly to consider. I don't want to be one of those blokes that buys five screens to find the right one but happy to buy a couple to satisfy looks for around town and comfort for touring. I'm hoping the clear view screen might be a good fit for both looks and wind protection.

I have a 2012 street glide that i use an ultra seat seat on for longer trips, done 50k on it no issues. I find the std ok for a day trip but beyond that it really is a pain in the arse!. The ultra seat is anout 2inches thicker than std

Thanks guys for all your feedback. I thought I'd replied but must have lost it.

Got a baggershields screen that is adjustable in height. Takes about a minute to go from 14 to 17 inches.

Got a Harley hammock seat for long rides. Will use the oem seat for around town.

Got khromewerks sweeper handle bars to go on.

Ordered genuine Harley lowers and now waiting.

Put sanchos wings, Harley air deflectors and a lower triple tree deflector on to provide a bit better wind protection (roadies don't deflect wind as well as streetwise and ultras. A fair bit of annoying wind buffet which is almost sorted. Harley might have addressed this with changes in the Rushmore roadie). Big improvement on hearing the stereo at speed already.

I have two years of Harley warranty to run so to ensure I don't risk losing warranty, a change in cams will be done at the dealer using se parts. I'll use se 204 cams and 1.725 ratio rocker arms

Hi Mark. I started out for a ride today and was gonna take some decent pics until I realised I have a slow leak in the rear tyre. Lucky I didn't get too far from home. So I'm still without reasonable pictures and also still using my iPhone which pics never upload to this site properly with. Will def see you and all the others at moama next month.

Have you decided what you're doing with yours?
