    Hi All

Just purchased some quiet baffles for my vance and hines short shorts that are on a halrey forty eight and thought i would do a review on it.

I purchased these from America as it saved me a good $35.00, Australian prices are shit!, The baffles are much better than the strait original baffles that come with the exhaust originally.

I must say that after reading many reviews on these baffles I believe that they do make a difference. They are not quiet but they do definantly give a nice rumble sound and they do drop the noise down, not dramaticaly like a standard exhaust but in my opinion not so obnoxious and does take that harsh tinny noise away that this exhaust has with the original baffles, I walked around the bike whilst it was turned on and I could tell that at different angles it quieted the bike down alot. I also went for a ride with ear plugs (as I usually do) SPF 26 or something for bunnings the yellow ones and I could bearly hear the exhaust, before with the standard baffles it was much louder, so i guess thats another way i can compare that it made a difference.

If you think that this product will make your exhaust dramtically quiet, and are buying it for this purpose , i would not waste my money, if you want a quiet harley the best thing to do is keep the stock exhaust on , if you want a bit of a rumble put on some slip ons.

As for the back pressure, i guess its better, its hard to tell the bike still has power and pulls well, not much of a change there in my opinion. I will dyno my bike when funds permit and will do it at Eastern Big Twin Brain sounds like the man, even though i wont get great results with the short shots it will still run better.

Would I reccomend anyone to purchase these baffles , yes I would BUT only if you really like the style of exhuast and want to get better sound out of it and quiet it down a bit. Personally I dont got thrashing around my harley and reving the shit out of it so i think that this baffle will make a difference due to my riding style.

Vance and hines make some nice looking exhausts in my opinion ,but thier exhuasts for the street are just too loud, the designers need to rethink how they make their exhuasts less noisy. The quiet baffles should have came originally with the exhaust, instead of adding another $130 to the purchase.

if any one has any questions please post something below and I will respond,

Mine ended up falling apart. Didn't mind the change in sound but like you said they don't really quieten down the sound just deepen it very slightly.

Thanks for the review. I'm considering them for my 48

Did you find removing the heat shields difficult? As I've tried and it did not seems so easy so I stopped as I was getting frustrated and didn't want to scratch anything

when I had my short shots I drilled holes in the heat shields ( while they were off) so I could remove the retaining bolt with the shields on in the future.
these holes were not visible, they are in the inner, underneath side of the pipes, also replaces the stock button head bolts with regular 1/4" unc s/s cap head bolts + anti sieze

Good idea about drilling holes as you dont see them
