I am converting my 95 fxd dyna 39mm mid glide to 41mm wide glide, everything is going fine but I am unsure about the axle setup, the 41mm forklegs take a 3/4 axle the same as the dyna. The dyna has a spacer  to line up the disc for the midglide about 25mm  Will I need to replace the spacer with a bigger one and where is the best place in Oz to get the axle and spacer parts

The conversion to date looks spot on I have also raked the trees 3 degrees

    Thanks in advance

Personally, my advice is dont do it.

Ive heard many instances of riders upgrading to WD front ends, and I purchased an FXR with a WD front end fitted.

I took it back to the standard front end, and the difference in handling is amazing....I certainly wont go back.

Your issue is merely one of spacers. Run it into your nearest bike store so they can measure it up and fit the appropriate spacers for you...very simple and quick, which will savr you a bit of needless fucking around.

What was it you didn't like about the handling Ranger?...I too am in the process of putting a wideglide with 3* rake in em...on. I'm using the fxwg triple clamps and a complete softy front end.

I'm doing it because I hate the way the Dyna handles, 28* in a front end ain't nowhere near enough. It's too skittish, especially in the wet,the front end often wants to fold under when pushed, it really needs to more stability. I put heavier oil in the forks, progressive springs in an effort to solve this and while it helps the side effect is the ride is really harsh and the handling issue has moved back along the chassis to make the rear wheel feel slippery.

Ideally I want to put 3* raked bearing cups in it too, but are not sure whether I'll need/ or if it will take one, an extended steering stem?

Great stuff PHIL, I just have to get my softy front end in the same state so I can push ahead. Can't wait to see your pics
