Hi All 

I have a HD sporster with a screamin eagle heavy breather , with stage 1 download and vance and hines short shots , its already been tuned.

If I put on quiet baffles , do I need to re tune ? 

 

Gday, by tuned I'm guessing your talking about the stage 1 download?
If that's the case its not really tuned but rather pushed in a more desirable direction tune wise.
If you look up the SE calibration they flashed into your bike you will see that does not mention V&H pipes, every detail you change from what is written in the calibration description is a difference from what that calibration was developed with, even if your bike matched the description exactly the download would not be perfect for your bike as no two bikes are exactly the same even running the same parts.
Having said that it may well be just fine, thing is you don't know that unless it has been checked, best way to check it is to get it tuned, then you know its right, just my 2 cents mate.

Nothing better than a proper dyno tune. They seem expensive but are worth every cent and much cheaper than an engine rebuild due to running lean (and hot).

thanks for the advice guys , the bike is running very well , not sure what tune/download has been done in the past as i just purchased the bike not long ago.

Sounds like the best thing to do is get a dyno tune.

Dyno tuning is the best thing you can do, once its done you'll think it was a pos beforehand.

Andrew when you got your bike tuned did you find that when you put on your quiet baffles it restricted the power alot ?

do you think it might be best to get rid of the short shots and put the stock pipes on with S & S mufflers? not sure if the change will result in much better preformance , I do like the black out look

Prav , I bet its just a canned map which is pretty much 100% of the time just the stage 1 download .

The last cal flashed into your bike is stored in your vci, pull it and compare it to the canned cal of the same name, you will see if it has been modified, I doubt it though.
