Confused. Recently bought a comfy 2007 Road King Custom. In the 70's-80's when I started riding I saw myself as a stripped down bare bones biker. Chopper style was all the better.  Electric start was a luxury.  When I started looking for a bike again recently in my 50's I decided to move forward from Pans and Shovels and get an early EVO softail with 4 speed and kick start.  Im a bit handy and have built a couple basket cases in the old days.  Im so old school I struggled with not having a kick start on a harley.  And I buy a late model Road King??  Obviously I dont know what I want.  In saying that I do love the new King !  Glad I moved forward.  After a lifetime of riding and industrial deafness, I dont like the noise in my helmet but cant bring myself to a full face helmet.  I also cant afford and dont want to put a full fairing on the King.  Im all good all the way up to Highway speeds.  The pounding and noise gets a bit hard on the highway on longer trips.  After not riding for 20 years and my age Ive lost my riding muscles in the shoulders and neck.  Question:  Anyone seen or ridden a late model road king with a Memphis Shades Bullet Fairing on it??  I dont want to buy one just for looks.  Does it reduce noise and buffeting??  It's sorta sporty which isnt me either, but it is growing on me from the pictures Ive seen.  Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated from you older guys and younger dudes as well.

Even a screen will help, had Memphis Shades tinted 16 inch on my 03 Road King. I don't like the full face helmet also, I do wear ear plugs and its cuts all the wind noise. Don't worry what it looks like, long as its suit you for comfort.
    Good luck with your selection.

Proper seat with a backrest and windscreen and I get no sore shoulders or back at all. Mind you a change in bars might help, I know with the ape hangers I run I never get sore shoulders or neck and can ride all day with them.

Even with the fairing bikes most I know still have to play with different screens due to helmet buffeting.

Thanks for thoughts guys. Deadwood; you are spot on about the bars. My bike came with a set of Western Style bars. Low and wide. Im not very tall with a dicky disc in lower back. An hour on the bike and I was ratshit. Bought some HD reduced reach bars. Thy're like mini apes and I never looked back. Longest ride so far about 4 hours and no problems other than wanting to get some of the air off me. Might put an ad up in the wanted section for a regular windshield see what happens. Thanks again.
