    Hi there.

Hopfully some can help me out with this or show me the right path.

I have an 07 Night Train and recently have been experiencing (while riding) the engine/code light coming on as well as the battery warning light.

The battery is about a year old. I have taken it into a battery shop and had it tested. 3 differnt tests done on it... all fine in perfect condition.

    After a Full overnight charge

    I tested the voltage.

    Bike cold.... 12.35

    Bike idling.... 13.85

Under load..... blinker on / Brake light on / high beam on.......  about 12.60

this is where it gets funny......

    After load test ........ and back to idling.......17.25 - 18.50 V ????????

    Is this Normal ????

    What is my next step?

Bike starts and runs fine every time.

    Hope someone can help,

    Thanks guys

Hmmm, you do have a problem.  I suggest you see if there are any fault codes logged in the CPU.

    I'm thinking it may be a voltage regulator problem.  The voltage should be between 14.3 & 14.7v @ 3600rpm @ 24 degrees C.

Any voltage above this is certainly going to fry your battery really quick!

    Good Luck

    Not normal, regulator is faulty,

if it'e charging 17.25 to 18.5 volts at idle, what.s it letting through at higher revs ?
