    Gents.

Solenoid in the 07 Nightrain needs repair (new kit). Have read that these are Common Denso items and can be sourced easily. Any help actually finding that part number that I can go to the Denso dealer and ask for would be greatly appreciated.

    2007 FXSTB.

    Thanks fellas.

Found out that they whole starter motor assy is a very common gear reduction assy. better still the solenoid kit was only $40. Yes I could have got it off fleabay for cheaper. This was through the local Ashdowns / Ingram's shop.

Fault. This was loose so I tightened it. This caused the contact to twist and cused an uneven surface. All the amps trying to get through a v,small contact patch.

So to wrap this up. I had been working long hours and only got to put the rebuilt solenoid back in yesterday. Well stuff me, is a new bike again.

The original problem where the bike was hard to start (starter seemed to labour heavily) has gone completely. It spins over with gusto and i'm a happy camper again.

So take note. if the battery terminal on your starter solenoid is loose be very very careful that if you tighten it the post does not move (turn) at all. If it does the contacts also move and create the situation where the contacts dont align (see photos above). The starter can't get the amps it needs to work effeciently.

Keep that one in the memory banks for possible problems / solutions. Regards Russ
