G'day all, I have put my 93 Hertiage Softail on single seat rego, one because my wife not into bikes and two the cost of rego in Queensland let's say it is outrageous and I don't want to give the State Government any more of my hard earned cash than I have to.

So here now is my problem, I had to remove the pillion seat to get single seat rego but it did support my lower back and now I find with the support gone I am finding the riders seat to be more uncomfortable which is giving me grief in the lower back and down my legs

Enter the Mustang vintage solo seat which looks like it has great back support but at a premium cost around $350 delivered to my door, it might not sound much to some but being a single income family and trying to run a household budget it's a lot of cash to outlay.

So to the good people out there who may be using a Mustang seat on there bike my question is, was the seat worth the cost and did it improve your comfort on rides, I need as much info as I can get before make the commitment and I would hate to find out I made a mistake cheers.

You would ne better off with the Mustang Vintage with a backrest. There is nos support without it

Spend the extra and get a back rest. Well worth it for back support and managing lower back pain. They are good seats and worth the extra money IMHO. The wide vintage is the pick of them for comfort but it's bulky and ugly. But that's the nature of seats: the most comfy ones are ugly and the best looking ones are bloody uncomfortable.
I know they cost a bit and more for the back rest but keep your eye out on eBay and gumtree where they occasionally pop up. They sell more regularly on the classifieds pages on hdforums.com

Sorry just saw the year model of your bike so chances of finding a cheaper second hand one are pretty slim. Price up a new one from m&m cycles. That's where I got mine.

I can only go on my own experiences but the Mustang solo seat is SO MUCH better than some of those other after market seats out there ... I had the original King & Queen seat that cam with my 08 Softail Custom which is pretty plush in it self but I would rather have the Mustang solo any day .

Also had one of those Badlander seats ... Bloody awful and rock hard compared to the Mustang ... I found the Mustang to be just a little firm in the beginning but has settled in nicely .

Those back rest things might be the go ... have a mate who swears by them and he has a really bad back ... but even he admits they look a little funny ... but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if it comes to comfort on a long ride then go for it .

The boys and me quite regularly do 400 / 500 Klm`s day rides and i don`t have any complaints like some of the guys when pulling up to stretch the legs .

Good luck with your choice ... and as FatBat says give M&M Cycles out of Ohio a go ... pretty had to beat on prices unless you get a good deal on Ebay or something .

    Cheers .

Hell yeah! I have the Mustang seats on the Fat. The Rirder's seat is the Sports Cruiser ( I think) It's thinner at the front, and I too got the back rest. On long rides it's the best!

    You won't regret it!
