G'day all, I'm new to the forum, and new to HD.

ive just bought a 1996 sportster 1200. I've come from a history of super bikes, of which my last was an 06 fireblade.

I am located in syd and bought my sporty in QLD, as bad as the weather was, cold, fog, etc, i just did not want to stop riding!, I love this bike!

Ok look forward to reading the posts on this forum.

    Cheers

    Thank you.

yes I rode it back from Sunshine Coast of QLD, about 1200ks in two days.

a little crazy now that I think about it, didnt know anything about the bike, and the vendor gave nothing away!

but as soon as I saw it in the flesh, I just wanted to own it.

as bad as the weather was, and a heavy uncomfortable backpack, cause of spare parts, I wanted to keep riding, there is a soul about these bikes, you just want to keep riding.

there are a few problems, but I will sort them out, and get it health, so that touring around oz won't be a problem...... I hope.

cheers and thanks to all for the welcome.

Good on ya man. That would've been a lot of fun. I reckon some of the best fun I've ever had is riding or driving a new toy home and the longer the trip the more fun. The excitement would've over-ridden any pain from such a long ride and with a back pack on.

Have to say I really loved the ride, the weather was painful....wet cold, but I just love the bike.

my previous bikes were all sports, litre bikes, and after 500ks needed to get off, and happy not to ride long distance again for months, but with this harley, I can't  wait to go long distance again.

Mate I thought the same thing when I saw it, but surprisingly not a problem..maybe the fact the fuel tank range makes you stop often enough, so good for a stretch and off the seat.
