Is it money well-spent, or money wasted, to go hunting a fancy pair of anti-fog riding glasses? Glasses to hopefully NOT fog up even when it is a) cold, b) you have your half helmet on, c) you also have a (neoprene or cloth) face mask due to said cold weather, and d) you're stopped at a light (wind cannot be your saviour).
Put differently, go old school or new school?
Old School: spit on the inside of the lenses; shampoo or shave cream wiped on and buffed off lenses; or use rain-x or some other such product as used by divers and so forth
New School: lenses with foam sealant. This is a case NOT of "do I want to spend the money" but of "if I do spend the money, will I get the results I want (see above)?"
The past few chilly morning rides to work, in lovely Melbourne, have seen both goggles and glasses fog to hell with half-helmet plus face mask on and stopped at lights (admittedly, el cheapo glasses; but were advertised as anti-fog)
Can anyone recommend fancy glasses that actually ARE the anti-fog advertised, in the conditions a-d noted above? And if you know of any photochromatic AND anti-fog that you can recommend, please do. Or should I conclude the advertising for the fancy stuff is bullsh*t and go old school?
It's a wonder no one has invented impact resistant saftey contact lenses (maybe they have). Wouldnt think they would fog up, though you might get cold eyeballs.
Go with ugly fish or something similar! I bought a pair of ugly fish a few weeks back, well worth the money. I ride with and open face helmet and a neoprene face mask and that's at 6:30 in the morning. Good time to test out new winter gear or glasses in Melbourne! If it don't work then, then it will never work!
buy a bottle of antifog spray if it stresses you...it`s only around 5 bucks

Seems the consensus is that the fancy anti-fog glasses/goggles still fog up when you're stopped.
Though I like Colstah's suggestion to just pull away at lights half blind and enjoy the mystery!
I'm gonna try the spray(s) on existing goggles and glasses. But then, on an upcoming US visit where I discovered a harley dealership and some Indy shops are not too far from my hotel, I'm gonna splurge on some fancy anti-fog, photochromic glasses, watch them fog up at lights when I get back, and blame you lot for not being decisevly against them. It's all your fault.
None of my glasses (Some cheap, some dear) fog up when I'm on the road. Even of a night in Sydneys peak hour Traffic and its raining. Never fog up. Can't see anything though.
