Fuel economy on the big jiggers.

There has been a bit of talk about fuel consumption with the big jiggers lately so i thought I would see what i get now I have a few ks on the stage IV.

Brimmed the tank and went for a spin today with some mates. Got back home showing 376 ks and showing empty but clearly some still in the tank. No povo run either. Give it to it when required.

Will fill up to brim next outing and see how many liters Tigger used, but based on other outings I estimate 20 liters used with 2 still in the tank. So thats 18.8 k's per liter. Or 5.32 liters per 100 k's.

Remember this is a stage IV motor, with a big 130kg pilot on top. I reckon thats pretty good. Thats over US 44 mpg in the old scale.

Photo or it didn't happen. Certainly lads.

Thats good klm per litre, not a great deal worse than my std glide except you have the performance!

Hi Hutchy ,,, no doubt you have had the bike tuned with the mods you have ,,,, just wondering , what tuner , and how you go about it , ie , dyno , auto tune or whatever !!!! Whatever you did, thats not bad fuel consumption figures ...

    Yep I'm happy PB!

Rider, No mate just blew the dust off after sitting in the shed honest!

G'day Marcus, How are ya?. Tigger has the SERT, and it was dynoed by a local bloke but I dont think he got it right and it still did ping, and too much heat. So, after a while of not being satisfied I decatted it to reduce the heat issue and took it back to the H-D techo who installed the stgIV.
I told him the drama even after being custom mapped on the dyno, so he modded the existing tune and its runs heaps better with almost no pinging any more. Very rare pinging now actually.. So i have left it like that and I don't know what the figures are now, but they were 100hp and 105 torque. Fairly conservative really.
I reckon a top tuner would make plenty more but I'm happy with its performance and fuel usage. Cheers.

When I put mine on it's centrestand and fill it to the brim, I will get over 400kms travelling on the Hume. Done it a couple of times.  It's good.

Hutch your bike must be running efficiently. Today I filled up and rode from south Gundagai shell servo to tooborac servo which is 407 km. I then put in just over 20 litres. Bike was packed with full panniers and bags on rear seat and rack. Cruise control set to 120 on the Hume hwy. My mileage is a whisker better than yours but I was cruising on the highway the entire time, the bike is only stage 2 and I'm a bit lighter than you. Me thinks yours is running more efficiently.

My 08 FLHT does 420 to a tank while cruising the Hume. I like to have a good range tank.
