Yeah you can still get em from a gunshop. But you need a license to own one and it must be kept in a lockable safe,with pellets kept in a separate lockable container.
Talk about a frickin nanny state. When I got my first high powered air rifle you only had to be 15 years old which I was...then caught the train home from Town Hall station in Sydney proudly holding my new B.S.A Mercury .22 with telescopic sight unwrapped!. Train trip was about 40 minutes, no problems, no one questioned me.
