    Hi All

Anyone have Shkino tyres on their harley ? I am interested to hear the quality , Tread life grip etc.

How do they stack up compared to the stock dunlop harley tyres say on a sportster ?

    Cheers guyz

I had a new tyre put on the front of a Softail Standard when I bought it, turned out to be a Shinko.

What can I say about it?  It kept the rim off the road.  Grip was average, wear was average with slight scalloping at recommended pressure, but better than a bald tyre in the wet.

I replaced it as a set when the rear tyre wore out with Pirelli Night Dragons.  Chalk and cheese, night and day.

You really get what you pay for with Shinko.

    Cheers,

    Pete

Cool, not sure if they are available in your sizes, but I can recommend the Harley (Dunlop) 407F & 408 rear.  Good wear and good grip on my Breakout :)

    Cheers

harley don't use Dunlop on factory fitment any more, though you can still buy the same tyre just not with HD on them (unless theyre old stock) not too old beware
Harleys now come new with Michelin 'scorcher' HD stamped tyres I believe, very durable tyre ive been told, know 1 dude got 23,000kms from his scorcher

Stay the fuck away from shenko

I previously ran night dragons, no complaints, great tyre

running michelin 'commander 2' this time around just to try em out and see how many k's i get, so far 3,000kms, grip seems fine

I've used Shinko tyres and never had any probs apparently they are old Yohohama tyres re badged. The biggest advantage to Shinko is the cheaper price.

Is the price difference Shinko to Pirelli Night Dragons or Michelin great enough for the drop in quality? Not much rubber between us and the ground...

mate I dont know the price of the shinko but too easy for you to find out
tha Pirelli was I think around $320 fitted, 1 would average around 8000kms with the N.D rear, and the Michelin was $340, ( first time running this tyre to see what kind of k's I get without sacrificing grip hopefully ) rear- 200 x 18 x 55.. smaller tyres will of coarse be less expensive, well you'd think anyway

Like everything, you get what you pay for I guess, I have also experienced scalloping and uneven wear with the stinkos. But as you see others have had good experiences with them,
not cheaper "IF" you have to replace a half worn tyre

    cheers brother

No complaints with the Shinko White Wall Im running now. I dont buy Dunlops anymore as the tread life on their white walls (402?) is absolute shit.

There must be more than one Shinko?

as at the track a lot of sports bikes run Shinko very sticky don't last

a few months back i got a $320 rear Dunlop lasted one month a stick went into stuffed it. anyone else had that happen?

Was looking at Shinko amongst others (Dunlop, Metzeler etc.) when I wanted to chuck some white-walls on my bike. Called around heaps of places to get quotes and all the usual and every single place I spoke to had either never even heard of Shinko, or straight up said they were shit tyres.

Ended up going with the Metzeler tyres as they got a good write-up and seem a lot better than the Dunlops.

Having never actually used the Shinkos I'm not in the best position to judge, just saying what I learned. But the Metzelers are much better than the Dunlop 402's I had on previously, in the wet and dry.

this is what my mechanic has told me chris, he used to work in HD dealership workshop, he is now an independent, still orders genuine stuff through them for all us blokes ,
he said HD have ceased the contract with Dunlop and are now using Michelin on all bikes. (scorchers I believe)
No doubt someone here will correct this if it is not the case
    cheers mate
