Good on Steelo for going the comfort route. Doesn't make you gay. Just means you can ride all day today.. and tomorrow...and the next day without a sore butt. Ain't nuthin like it.

    Here's mine - 2013 ultra.

    Dear friends and forumites.

I love my new Ultra but I'm not ashamed to admit I don't feel as confident in low speed manoeuvring as I do on the Deuce. I've been considering finding myself a nice quiet car park and practicing some U turns and tight turning using techniques on youtube videos.

To save the bike (and my dignity),  Has anyone a set of pro guard crash bar protectors (or an option) they no longer use I could buy or would be prepared to loan. They're about $60 to $70 from the states but I'm sure there'd be a long delay in getting them here. What are your thoughts

    Kind regards

Thanks for advice and PM's Binnsy, Tim and China. I feel a bit like the fella who's read all the books on playing the piano now has to sit down at it. cheeky

Hey Steelo. Protection might be good but think positive about what you can do and dont think about falling over. China is spot on the money with cluth and back brake fo the slow turning. I find the hardest is pulling up and backing into the curb. If your two up get her to jump of before you roll in backwards. (and dont let your pipes hit the curb)

Steelo, lots of very good, appropriate information for you.

Keep keep your confidence up, don't think of failure and practice.

Keep at it Steelo. Once you get the hang of how the ultra turns you'll love it. Because of the backward triple tree they can turn really tight with good control and balance. I've never had a bike that'll cut such a tight low speed radius. And not to sound repetitive in reinforcing the other guys good advice DON'T TOUCH THE FRONT BRAKE - I did once in early days and over she went on the bars, instantly. If it helps at all I not only point my head and eyes where I want to go but in a really tight turn I'll sometimes point my inside knee or leg where I want it to go as well. I often have to do it two up and between us we weigh 205kg which makes everything a bit top heavy. It's taken me a while but pretty much mastered it.

Welcome to the life of a Bagger Steelo.

As China said, the detachable kit is a waste of money when you can remove 4 nuts and take the box off the rack leaving you a platform for a swag.
Or remove the 4 torx bolts and remove the box and frame as one unit.
Remove the seat first to disconnect the wiring, make a loop of the wiring and hide under the seat.
You do loose the antennas but you can buy a AM/FM antenna kit that goes inside the batwing.(all instructions come with it and took me about 20 mins to do)

As for low speed turns, dont forget to transfer your weight. Motocross style. When turning right put more weight on you outside foot (left) this lowers the center of gravity from your seat closer to the ground.
Also shift your weight to the left side of the seat. This will counter balance the bike leaning to he inside (right) of the turn.

And practice practice practice. End result is to do complete circles in a street.

    More importantly ENJOY

Oh, you loose 20 KG by removing the topbox and the bike handles even better.

HaHa. Thanks Larry. Good to see you too. Fortunately there were still enough OLD fellas in your little group to warrant the O in GHOST.
Turned over 100k on the Deuce this trip. Still running like a Swiss watch.

Fitting GoPro to Tourer - RAM Mount
Friends and fellow forumites. I've searched the internet to find a place to mount my GoPro on the bike.
I've seen installations where the camera is fitted on the crash bars, and or on handlebars, or the mirror stem.
None really suited. I need to get power to the camera, be able to turn it on and off, and tune the field of view.
I didn't really like the handlebar options because of the vibration at idle
    Bought a RAM -B- 337U
The screw holding the windscreen to the fairing is the same thread.
I found a bolt, cut it down so it had a thread at both ends, screwed one end into the fairing, added a rubber grommet and fitted the ball to the other end.
Using a standard bar and GoPro ball mount fitted it up. I have the GoPro case with an open side for external power via USB.
Going to take it for a spin tomorrow.
    What do you think?
(excuse the bug remains on the fairing. I've been getting a bit of riding in lately

Steelo,  what a great idea.  If it works out I think that you may start a trend. I look foward to your reviews.
