I can't really tell from your photo, but on most Harley's I've looked at the chassis paint looks crap because the welds aren't very neat.

It is not a stone chip, that slivery looking area is bare metal, I was washing my bike and the pointy bit which is paint went into my finger.

Chassis paint is soft and is more like a liquid. You don't use 2pac as is will stone chip and crack under chassis touqe twisting.

Does any one know anything about how harley paint there chassis eg electrostatic painting

so the paint is peeling off and he wants to know why but gets ridiculed for asking the question. I don't get it. I have a blister the size of your thumb on the weld on the filler neck on my oil tank. the paint has split about half way around the bubble and if I catch it with a cloth when washing it it will peel off for sure. I was thinking of injecting a small amount of superglue into the split and pressing the bubble flat before it breaks off like Mikes has done but I don't know if that will work. Has anybody tried anything like that?

I think you will end up with a raised area as how will you get the glue thin enough to get the paint to sit hard against the frame?

Not taking the piss Pauly,it seems to happen a fair bit....Anyway,with the paint I would peel it off, prep the area and touch it up with a bit of gloss balck...

the paint is split around the top edge of the bubble so I am hoping one drop of superglue into the void and gravity should get the glue to where it needs to be. if I then press the bubble flat any excess glue should squeeze out the top and the paint should be back against the metal. that's what I am hoping anyway. i think the paint has blistered in that spot because there might be a pin hole in the weld that is allowing oil or fumes through. i wouldn't have thought to tape the area up Tim but i will do that just in case it gets messy. i was sort of hoping somebody could recommend a product fit for the purpose.

So no one so far has any idea about the paint on there bike other than there 2cent opinion on how my sitching on my seat looks, If I wanted to talk to a meat popical I will go to the dealership workshop where I bought the bike.

As far as I can tell it is electrostatic and my problem happens sometimes when an gun is not cleaned propley

All I want it to know if I am the only one who has had this problem

what year is your bike Mike? I am no expert but apparently HD have been having issues with paint on some models recently. i have a 2002 fatboy and except for the oil tank thing the paintwork is absolutely schmick.

take it back to the dealer and tell him to fix it. if I bought a new bike and the paint was lifting anywhere on the bike one year later I would be fukin spewing.
