Hey new to this forum, last year I sold my 03 softail fxst I had 20 inch apies ( berleigh bars ) 3inch foward controls ( power machine ) lapera seat , v&h exhaust. Was a good bike but wasn't completely comfortable on it. I've been reading reading and reading on the net about what is the best bike for tall people as I'm 6"7 or so. Every bike I'm sitting on is to small and its starting to get really annoying !!! As I'm so keen for a new Harley !!! I wanted a night rod or muscle but they are out of the picture even with custom seat and fwd controls and bars still way to small ! Can someone that has this problem help me with some suggestions like what is the biggest Harley frame standard ? That I can build on I heard maybe a road king ? I don't like the look of saddle bags etc but can take all that stuff off. I'm wiling to spend money to make it fit me but I'm no rich person ! I would really appreciate some feed back and help with this. My inseam is 38"
This web site http://cycle-ergo.com/ lets you pick a brand (Harley in your case) then a bike (say a Wide-Glide for example) and then enter your height and inseam and shows you how you'll end up sitting on the bike with a picture and angles of legs, knees etc. I put in 6'7" and 38" inseam on a Dyna Wide-Glide (comes with forward controls) and it was still a bit tight. But add in a Harley Dyna tallboy seat (moves you back 2 inches) and a set of Harley Davidson extended reach forward controls (gives 2 inches extra leg room) and you should have plenty of room (similar to a 6' 3" rider on an unmodified Wide Glide). On the cycle ergo web site thats simulated by add 2 inch Handlebar rise, -2" handlbar pull back, +2" seat rise, +2" peg offset. http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/tallboy-seat-pa-16-5147106--1#tabs http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/extended-reach-forward-control-conversion-kit
And you'd probably want to change the bars as well but that's easy (say 2 inch risers).
