Hi All.....Advice require. ..Just ordered a new Breakout with the option for a fork extension.
The question is I have not been able to see any pictures, of a completed fork extention "2inch" and was wondering if anyone has completed this upgrade and how it has effect the bikes handling and naturally the look of the bike when completed. You might ask the reason Why
I want to sit lower on the bike and bring tha bar a bit closer, But on the same time I do not want to loose the ability to turn without having to struggle...I have owned a Chopper with a 300 rear tyre, which just brought tears everytime I saw a Roundabout, let alone take a corner. Have sold my Harley 48 which was my eveyday ride.
Also I am not a weekend rider , travels 10to 20k a year.
Any advice would help....nothin better than advice from people in this forum.
Have seen one set up like this and it looked great, however, the dude riding it said that it feels as though you have a pillion on the back all the time, took some getting used to he said. Apparently (from what he told me) Breakouts in New Zealand are often and commonly set up with this 2" fork extension, more clearance for mountainous winding roads I would presume It was black and did look very cool with its increased front height, made the back look lower and seem longer overall, very mean and stealthy looking i have to say
Thanks for that...I have been told that, they look meaner and lower from the back...its interest you said its like riding with a pillion passenger on until you get used to it...but all good overall....I have been told that by someone else as well....Thanks for the feedback.
The fork extension might make the back look lower due to the fact the front end has risen, however I would put my money on the seat height being a tad higher in reality.
My CVO Breakout will have your right foot pushed upwards on roundabouts or tight right handers A wee bit "Sphincter twitching" the first time it happened Since I've ground the heels way down on 2 right foot boots. Left turns no problem of course I've had lots of different Softail variants over the years and all had way better ground clearance Now I just ride to suit the bike. ( ie Like a fucking granny haha...) Problem is I have another Softail with a 200 rear , it's fine and handles real well so I "keep forgetting" !!
In short , the Breakout is a camel of a fucking thing , but i still like it !!
Thanks for the feed back...look forward to reading about your changes.
