I have had my Ultra Limited for 8 months and just recently attempted to use the CB radio, no go! Can anyone tell me if in fact they do work here in aus?

The only one you will pickup will be other Harley riders playing with theirs as no one uses CB anymore

I have heard you can communicate with other harleys with the same system. I haven't tried myself.

My brother is coming up here from Sydney in a couple of weeks will try that.

As I do a bit of highway riding thought would be ok to have a listen to the truckies

It wont pick up aussie frequencies. They are still on USA frequencies that why you can only talk to other H-D's.

Well that's a first......USA CB frequencies different to Oz CB frequencies..... I have spent the last 40 years designing and repairing radio Comms Systems in Oz and I cracked up when I read the above posts.

SRT8 - The HD CB works fine, don't pay any attention to the above posts. Unfortunately the HD CB is HF and not UHF which is common in Oz so if you try to communicate to a UHF CB using a HF CB they will not work.

Your HD CB will work with any other HF CB radio however HF CB performance is poor in close range but terrific for long distance comms

    PM me for further details

Yeah, thanks for that. I stand corrected. Do all the channels align with the same frequencies in the US and AUS?

Aarrrhh, the good old days when pirates ruled the airwaves instead of the DVD store. If anyone's got a 27MHZ, SSB CB laying around in the shed, let me know, I've been looking for one for a while.

The OZ and USA channels are the same - exceptions are NZ and Japan and some 5kHZ channel shift offsets in Russia and Poland.

Unfortunately HF is hit and miss and has largely been dropped in favour of UHF CB.

Mine sure does, but the trap is the CB operates on the AM band and not the common Australian UHF band.  Pretty useless here, but handy talking between 2 ultra limiteds :)
