Ok here's an update. I got the bearing and its a tight fit on the shaft I could put it in but I'd have trouble removing the inner primary next time I wanted to so looks like I'll have to buy the Jims bearing. On another note while turning the drive shaft I herd a noise like a dry bearing rolling and that was turning it slow and got louder the faster I turned it so I put a scene driver to the box and listened to my ear and it sounds like I need a new bearing some where in there so it's time to pull the box and replace all bearings and seals I hope this is part of the noise I've been looking for. I'm glad it's coming into winter. Anyone know of a good priced kit for the box or should I just buy all the parts from hd. I can't aford the Jims kit.

I wonder if youre just hearing things wozz. noises can resonate on any machinery. if you stick a screwdriver in your ear you will hear scary noises no matter where you put the sharp end of the screwdriver. you have went from the front cylinder "scraping noise" to a dry bearing roller noise. did you buy the engineers stethoscope? you will hear lots of scary noises with that too. if you want to pull the gear box apart just for the sake of it then go for it. was the bearing you replaced fucked or still good?

The bearing rollers in the inner primary looked fine but are noisy when rolled on the race. I just want to do it right the first time. Just got a price of $380 for the kit for the box is there any cheaper I think hd would be cheaper anyone bought from hd for these bearings and seals.

I can hear the noise after riding around the block when the motor is hot but I can sit the bike still and get the motor hot with no noise it's only after a short ride that the noise starts and can hear it with out putting anything up to your ear you can hear it from 2 Mtrs away.

I've pulled the tank heaps of times and the bolts are all tight. No bolts in rocker box I've pulled and re tightened them 3 times. Not sure how to tell if comp sprocket is fucked. What do I look for.

This is a perfect example of why you ascertain exactly where the noise is coming from BEFORE you start ripping shit apart. Wazza, I cant remember if you mentioned it but you do have a full service manual right?

Comp noise is bit more of clunk /knock noise compeared to worn bearing roller noises something worth checking
Whilst inspecting it though is the nut/ bolt itself As thay do stretch over time if it's been off and on numerous times
Look at the shaft of the nut for any deformation if it's nice and smooth should be ok Best of luck wazza

Comps all good then. Just bought the Jims inner primary sealed bearing kit installed it now putting all back together. It's raining here so I'll have to wait until next week to test ride it and get back to yous if it doesn't fix it I'll pull the box and throw new bearings in it and keep going for there by the time I work it out I'll know it's got new bearings everywhere lol.

Ok. I bolted up the inner primary and the noise is still there when turning the drive shaft in neutral so I'll pull the inner off tomorrow after noon and replace the year box bearings and hopefully the main drive shaft hasn't got scored or I'll have to buy one of those as well. The bearing noise could be the noise I've been chasing as like I've said at the start of this post it doesn't make the noise on cold start up and still doesn't when sitting idling to the motor gets hot but after a trip around the block or two the noise is there in gear or not. I'll update soon fellas looks like I'm off to morgan and wackers tomorrow for some parts. I looked up how to pull the box apart and put it back together it looks like a piece of piss to do. no better way to spend a wet Friday night then in the shed playing around.

Wazza, the reason I asked about having a manual was more along the lines of understanding the engine and its associated moving parts and thereby making it a littl easier to diagnose where a problem originates from.

Here's an update on my bike. I replaced to inner primary bearing only and put it back together and the noise is all but gone. the primary is a bit noisey. I set it at 16mm cold. But the noise is gone. Daddy racer I tried what you said and there is no noise what so ever.
