I've had a little look around the site and can't seem to find and answer I'm looking at getting the screaming eagle street tuner for my bike can i fit it myself or does a dealer need to fit it and tune it for me?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Bar86r,

In a nutshell the Super Tuner is an orange box with connectors at both ends that a skilled mechanic with software on a laptop can use to re-program the Ecu on your bike by plugging one end into your bike and the other end into the laptop. You can buy the tuning software and cables to do it yourself but it is only a good idea if you know what you are doing.

The first time the Super Tuner is connected to your bike it becomes 'locked to your bike' so you can't share it with other bikes unfortunately. Once your bike has been tuned, the cables are unplugged and you put the super tuner some where safe until your next upgrade.

Assuming your bike is factory standard and you want to upgrade it to at least 'stage 1' (air cleaner upgrade and exhaust upgrade) you will need the Ecu re-programmed so that it knows about the change in airflow dynamics. If you don't get the Ecu re-programmed your bike will run lean which in turn will cause issues that can damage your engine (over heating, burn values etc)

I hope this helps with your understanding.

    Cheers

    Dave

The other option is a Auto Tuner, had mine on for a few years now, works a treat.

I could be wrong but I think the street tuner might be the cheapest screamin eagle tuning product and its capabilities are limited compared to the super/race tuner.
