Higher bars on my 09 Custom

    Hello all!

Here's my custom and I need your help. I'm looking to put higher handlebars on for comfort and i'm a fan of the 72 bars. I was thinking mini 12" apes but don't think apes would look good on the stock 6" riser so if i were to go that route i'd need speedo relocation kit same as a 72.

Any tips for the most cost effective way? Possibly if i kept the stock riser but added some 7" ape style bars? That would be roughly the same height, but i'm having trouble sourcing some.

Gidday Ricespice. A set of 2 inch straight risers, plus the stock Harley speedo bracket as fitted to the 72, the customs or the superlow and the 12 inch apes would work. Some models such as my Iron have the same speedo bracket but it is wrinkle black, not chrome, so I suggest getting the chrome. I agree that the stock curved riser would not look good with 12 inch mini paes. I have seen it done, but it looks pretty crap. All of the parts would be available from any Harley dealer and they could also let you know what cables and wire extensions you need. This approach keeps your speedo in the centre of your bars, rather than down beside the tank where it is harder to see. TC

i'm leaning towards these, only 1.5" higher but the wider look, http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5000828#

i don't  think i'll have to replace the existing riser/speedo or any of the cables (may require some rerouting though). They may do the trick, but i have no pictures to tell whether they would look good or not

    Hey careyman,
Ended up with the "bad boy" handlebars from JP cycles, didn't have to replace any cable or wiring and gave me the width i was looking for. I am satisfied with these... for now

    http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5000828#

    Center Width: 9″

    Design: Diamond knurled

    Diameter: 1″

    Drilled for Wiring: No

    Finish: Chrome

    Pullback: 4″

    Rise: 6″

    Style: Bad Boy

    Width: 31″

    The stock is:

    Center Width: 4.75″

    Design: Diamond knurled

    Diameter: 1″

    Drilled for Wiring: No

    Finish: Chrome

    Pullback: 7.5″

    Rise: 4.5"

    Width: 27″

So the difference isn't too drastic, but in person it's noticeably wider than it was and I'm happy with it for now considering it only cost $100.
