I spent a week in Tassie and only saw the east coast. we got to Hobart and had to get back for the boat the next day. when I do it again I will take at least 2 weeks. 4 days wont do it justice

Four days won't even scratch the surface, Dave. I was there for three weeks and should have doubled it!

Two weeks there about 3 years ago and only did about half what I would have liked and even that was rushed. Keen to do it again though.

4 days a see some of it my mates got a good route planned will see plenty of senery and stay in some nice pubs

Just went there for 9 days, some of the guys left after 4 days. If you do 4-500km per day you'll have plenty of fun and ride some great roads. However the boat was expensive, $550pp return.

On the way over we had a Portal room, pointless its dark when you leave and dark when you arrive and are woken at 5:45am......
On the way back had an internal room. No window, same size, same 4 small bunks.
I would never choose the "ocean recliner" its basically a plane seat...
The rooms are shit, the food is shit and expensive, the drinks are expensive.

However the sooner you go to bed the sooner you wake up in heaven (Tasmania, heaven on earth for motorcycles)
The only reason for taking the boat is to get your bike there. Just fork out the cash and forget about it.
The riding is fantastic and you will meet some very interesting people. The Bischoff Hotel in Waratah was great, nice food, cold beer, bike friendly and a couple of real characters run the place. Room and breakfast for $50. However there is nothing else there and it rains A LOT.
Also, everthing closes early. Either 5:00 or 8:00. Prepare to be checking in to your accom and eating early. We got caught out a couple times. There is no hurry down there, painful when you arrive, great after a few days

If you're riding for 4 days straight, you might need a thicker lambs wool seat cover?
