    Hi

I thought that you may be intetersted in my 420 Km test ride of a 2014 Victory Jewel

First and foremost the dealer up here in Bne could not be more accomidating , a truly great experience from a customers perspective .

So i picked it up Sat and returned it Monday .

    My observations were

    • that 240 rera tyre looks beautiful but is VERY difficult to get used to . I mean it is as if it is trying to "push" me wide partcularly mid corner on a sweeping bend if the road is a bit lumpy .Was a terrifying experience i thought . The pressure was at 40 PSI so all  good in that area . Im not sure how those that ride a HD Breakout handle it but the tyre whilst looking smoking hot is just not for me
    • the motor at 106 Cu Inch is a stonker - simple. My rides a 1450 FAttie so the power difference was quite noticeable . In 3rd at 4500 RPM it really pulled hard - VERY impressive
    • fuel economy was I'd say better by 20%
    • the backlit speedo in blue at night was very smart
    • gear change was no better that HD - in fact it could be said to be worse
    • clutch action was quite heavy compared to my 1450
    • suspension was terrific
    • brakes were very progressive and worked a treat
    • the finish was very good . The chrome on the fins on the barrells is nice and thick and looks the part
    • seating position coudl be a problem if you were planted on it for extended periods (lower back ........but that could be a VERY personal view really) Sso anyone thats thinking

So anyone thinking of going for a test ride their service is second to none thats  for sure and you oughta try one out for sure . They also sell Indian (nearly took one a those and probably should have)

For now i'll be keeping the fattie . I just checked the cam chain tensioners (its a 03 model ) and fortunately hardly ANY wear on them so that gives me confidence to keep the Ol Girl

i would be particularly interested in anyone that is riding a Breakout at present and their experience/s with the 240 rear tyre turning / cornering etc

    regards

You get use to the 240mm Tyre, got to remember it's not a sportsbike, still not sure on the Polaris brand.

I'm curious about the victory cross country touring bike but no victory dealer near me. It's like an ultra but comes standard with detachable rear top box, heated grips and seats, removable rider back rest, adjustable fairing lowers among other things. Gets good reviews for its engine and suspension and a fair bit cheaper than an ultra. Their resale is pretty shit though but that's good if you wanna buy one second hand.

Thanks for the review Kato, I'm looking at the Orange jackpot as a possible next bike. Yer some of the screamin eagle stuff I've bought from HD says made in China on the packaging, lol.

I cant see the point of a review of another manufacturers on a dedicated forum, I did look in as I was expecting some differant comments

What will the review of the Suzuki Boulevard be like?
and to add insult, it is not made in Japan.
it is made in the States

Maybe this thread belongs in the 'take it outside' section as its not Harley related ?

the victory salesman offered me 10k trade in for my sportster , harley offered 6k , obviously victory keen to sell me a jackpot + victory offered me the bike for a weekend , petrol money and 2 nights at a pub . Harley said sorry mate no test rides available at the moment.

I never take things on forums seriously either. A bit of harmless chatter about another brand motorcycle and how it compares to Harleys which we all own shouldn't offend or hurt anybody. Lots of other stuff I've read on these forums about ducatis, triumphs and nobody's come on there saying it's trolling and will be deleted. It's more relevant to Harleys and motorcycling than half the drivel and crap that gets posted on this site.

I reckon its a great idea to review other brand cruisers on this site.

Whilst i can never see myself not having a Harley, (Ive had em since 1984)

I find it interesting to read Katos thread in his comparison against his Harley.

Thats what I like about this forum, its diversity.

Pssst, dont tell anyone, this is just between you and me, Er

You can have a laugh too.
