    Hello everyone, I am Camillo!

I moved to this amazing country in December (from Belgium but I am Italian) and to celebrate the event I got myself a Sporster 1200.

This is my first HD and I am totally in love with it, finally a dream come true. I have been using it almost every day to go to work and I have been cruising around Sydney (Blue Mountains, Pacific Hwy and sea cliff bridge).

Now my next big question is if worht to do the famous Stage 1 upgrade or keep it as stock, I read all the thread in the forum but I am not yet still convinced... mainly I don't like the hassle you can go trough in case someone "notice" you :p

    Cheers,

    Cam

gday mate, Welcome to the forum.
If you go with the open/straight-through pipes and breather be sure to also allow in your budget enough cash for a descent tuner, if you live in a leafy inner city suburb your probably gunna piss your neighbors off also
Bike performance will be greatly enhanced  and of coarse it will sound like a Harley SHOULD
Fuck the neighbors i say, go for it man

    good luck

    Hi Camillo,

Welcome to Aust. I had an 883 iron until recently. I didn't find changing to Screaming Eagle slipons, with a protuner and free flowing air fliter gave me any more power. Maybe just a tiny bit more. It did sound better though. I used to warm the bike up for 3 minutes before I rode it, so it was a bit noisier in my drive way, so if you leave early for work you will wake people up. Especially if you get a full Vance and Hines setup. I have not changed my new Dynas exhaust yet and might not. Not sure yet. The decibel sticker on my new bike says 93 decibels and I think the legal limit is 95. Some exhaust systems are way over that limit.

    Thanks for the replies,

The deler was suggesting to put the screamin meagle slip on mufflers exausts (HD-64900208) that are just a bit more noisy, they sound better and should not wake up the whole neighborood.

And then of course the tuner and and heavy breater air filter. He actually wants to keep the origianl filter cover and just change the  filter itself.

He tells me I shold get 5-7 hbp increase that honestly does not seems a lot... but maybe I am wrong.

    Camillo,

The dealer would be correct, but that's not much more horsepower really and if its at higher revs then you may not notice unless you rev it more. I kept the same filter cover too. They take the back off the air filter cover and fit a different filter (K&N). Remember to ask for it back when they do it.

Mmmm, I don't know spending 2K to "just" get a better sound seems a bit too much.

And indeed I rarely found myself if high rev, so I will think about it a bit more, what about using one of those aggressive breather shaped like a cone ?

Does it make any difference in BHP at all ?

Whatever you do camo don't buy one of those cheap Chinese cone breathers off fleabay, better off with what you have
throw on a set of screamin eagle street performance shorty duals and that will give it a better note, new they're about $450 for a sporty and no tuner required or couple a hunge for a 2nd hand set in good nik off fleabay or gumtree
    cheers
