SHORT SHORTS ADVICE

Hi guys, im sure this has been covered before but ive tried searching & all i got was a headache

I would like some advice on V&H short shots on my 103 FB lo. I ordered the bike with em as well as a heavy breather thinking they look allright (not knowing at the time that performance wise they suck)

Now i want a bit more grunt & want 2 do cams - thats all i can afford ATM. I have worked out SE204s or maybe SE255s cos im after low end power off the mark.

Will i notice an big improvement with cams or am i wasting my hard earned cos of this exhaust?  Ive read that the problem with them is that they dont have any backpressure.

Ive seen V&H quiet baffles which are supposed to give a bit more back pressure but some reviews say they are good while others say they are crap. Im totally confused!

I dont want 2 pay for a cam upgrade & be dissapointed with the results due to the pipes.

Any advice would be appreciated - Adam d newbie

You can get better pipes yes but you still shouldn't be disappointed if you get it tuned properly

dealers don't give a fuck, only want to sell v@h at huge profit margin, they know the shorts are shit, get some S @s slip ons, may not look as tuff but work better than wanking around around with cams.

Ahh that's very nice :) mate if you like short shots stick with them, the 204 cam is the better of the two you mentioned (just in my opinion) lol but I have heard, no experience with, but have heard they are a bit more work to tune. Will you be getting it dyno'd or tuning yourself

Thanks Daggs, no chance of tuning it myself - i'll leave it to the experts. So do u recon I will notice a big power improvement with 204s & staying with my pipes?

I know I'm not gonna do 10sec 1/4 mile times but I just don't want to fork out $1500 & not notice much of a improvement.
is about 85hp realistic with that set-up?

Someone who knows about the 204's would be better answering,
I have no experience with them, I have S&S cams.
Just I have read a bit saying they are more favored than the 255

$1500 just for cams? that's a bit steep mate, even if it included a dyno its still bloody dear mate but it might be the going rate at a dealership.

I wouldn't know, mine has never been to one since it left the showroom floor.

I would be getting advice and a quote from an indy shop

    Oh, by the way
I would try a proper tuning like daggs said, the dicks at the stealership should have done this for you
You should be satisfied with the power produced if done correctly
My only concerns about the very expensive 'dyno-tune' is that these tunes are performed and have greater improvement in the mid-high end rev range, this is not the general range that bikes are ridden on the street
When the coppers pull you over and EPA your pipes you will have to return to a standard tune with your stock pipes (or any other pipes or slip-ons you may want to change to in the future)) thus blowing your hard earned on an expensive dyno.
Or can you restore the 'dyno-run' program back into the computer????
