Hi I think I put this post in the wrong section, new to forum so I have just cut and past so sorry for any cross postings and wouldmbe grateful for any suggestions.

I have just recently purchased a 2014 Sportster Custom 1200 and just love the bike. But the rear suspension especially with a passenger could be better. Any suggestions for aftermarket shocks would be awesome. I have tried adjusting the pre load on the Harley shocks but not really the best and pre load adjustment on its own doesn’t really do a lot in my opinion any thoughts on that.

Yeh, had a 2009 Custom sporty, the shocks I got told were good for up to 90kg, I replaced with IKON made in Albury. I had mine made 10mm longer eye to eye and they make to suite what weight you would carry, and the ride difference was amazing. No more wallowing around corners, a lot more comfortable. Well worth it.

Got to agree with FXT. I also had a 2009 Sporty Custom and replaced front and rear shocks with Ikon. Put Pirelli Nightdragon tyres on and it was like a new bike. Handled like a dream and rode through the rough stuff and wet comfortably, including when two up. Ikons are reasonably priced too and the customer service is top notch.

Unfortunately not sure if I can agree about the customer service. I bought a set for my street glide and asked them for something more comfortable and with longer travel. They sent me a set of 12" shocks (which are standard length for a street glide). After a few months of swapping setting I recontacted Ikon and they said send them back and they would see if they could modify them to be 13" long (at a cost of another $480). I told her I had already spent $495 for these ones that were supposed to be 13" long. She wasn't very helpful and there was certainly no "customer service". I've since bought a pair of of 13" Ohlins which I'm very happy with. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend their shock absorbers to anyone. You shit on a person once and not try to help them afterwards, well you get what you deserve. I'm 100% for buying Australian but I won't put up with being shat on.

Thanks given me a lot more to think about, I was tossing up between Ikon, YSS & Ohlin’s. I don't like the fact you didn't get good customer service from Ikon.

I run Ikons and love them! I have no experience with their service though as they came fitted to my Sporty; although when I rang them last week they were very good to talk to.

I had good service from Ikons when I bought my shockers, they asked what weight the bike carries, what height I wanted etc. When I put the rear shockers on it highlighted how bad the front is.
