hey guys,
if i was getting to 107bore and heads flowed and i have a 96ci motor can i use 103 barrels and heads?
bit of background
i have a 2009 fxstb
i want minimal off the road time so would i be able to use a set of 103 heads and barrels to off of 2013 street bob to get bored to 107 this work would also include cams heads flowed push rod pistons ect.
please help as i am not up with the know how in this area

Yes you can use 103 barrels and heads. 103 heads came with automatic compression release (acr) valves and loom which is a bonus if you have them, the loom and can activate acr with a decent tuner. This is a good feature if you run compression above 9.6 which could wear out your starter. The only other diff is that the dyna/touring or rubber mounted "a" version of the heads have a slightly diff mounting setup to the softail b motor's head's. But this can be worked around.
A decent engine builder will be all over it. As for piston choice, compression, squish, head porting, valves, cams, push rods etc, there are too many variables. Choose a reputable engine builder, tell them what you want and trust they will know which package of parts will work for your objectives and budget. I reckon the s&s big bore kits are pretty good value but will still need checking over by a machinist.
