Hi folks.. Looking to upgrade my Iron to either a Street Bob or wide Glide. Have not test riden either yet... Early days. Just thought I would get some feedback for those who may know better on which is the better bike in terms of handling and general all round stakes winner.

One specific question I have is in regards to turning. The WD obviously has a larger rake, does that make it more difficult to manoeuvre through traffic ?

Doubt many people are going to say their bike choice sucked :P I've got a SB and hated it at first because of the mid controls, but after sticking a set of forward controls on it I love it. Handles like a dream.

    Tough choice!

I always said if ever I'm parted from my FXR it'll be a street bob which replaces it, but then I swap and change tween that and the wideglide.

Methinks I'll just wait to see what's around at the time, and buy secondhand so that someone else has already added a load of the extras I'll be wanting on it....and I think it'd be difficult to make a bad choice whichever way the coin lands.

Hey Stones, I test rode the WG last week and found it hard to turn at first due to the rake. But I was already going with a SB anyway just wanted to see the power difference between my mates 1200 custom. Would be something you could get used to though as I did on a 20min ride and I've only riden jap sports bikes for 14 years!

Hope I've help in some way, but best to test ride and see what u feel more relaxed on!

I ride Chez's Street Bob a fair bit (if I'm not riding mine) and the mid mounts combined with the low seat make for a cramped riding position. It's ok for shorter trips but I'd hate to do a long ride like that.

When you compare the two I'd be including the cost of a set of forward controls on top of the base SB cost.

If went SB it would have to have forward controls.

I appreciate they each have their own characteristics, I just thought one may have a better reputation.

I reckon the Street Bob is more of an all rounder, I'm super happy with mine but if I was buying now it'd be the low rider for the alloys and dual disk front end.
