    Hay Guy

Regulator on the Heritage she don't go, new one arived, pulled it outa the box, the lead was about a meter long, thats long I says to meself.

So I traced the wire back, it goes to a circit breaker in behind the battery, but stuffed if I can find an easy way into there. Battery out, still on go, not even a hole to acces it..... is it me, am I missing some thing obvious. have I got to take the back wheel off and the guard????

While I'm havin a whinge, the battery is right up against the oil tank, that can;t be good, maybe some sort of thin insulation might help, or is it ok??

    Yeah I havn't had it long, its a 92.

    thanks for listenin Duge

just the back wheel and the plastic lower guard may get you there. there should be a rubber insert in the battery box.

    Hay guys
Bugga Bugga, Done it, there is lots in there. think a door behind the battery might be an idea. Any who, bloody thing still showing 12,5vlts and static when going,12.9vlts when stopped. Pretty sure the alt is ok, showed 20-30 ac vlts. The resistance was a bit odd, probe in one hole other to the motor showed 0.4. which is ok with some books others say 0.
Any clues? The netral light dims when I rev it, that's what alerted me in the first place. I hate lectrickery.
    Thanks Duge

Is there any thing eles that I shud replace while I'm in there? its got 75,000ks on the clock.
    Thanks Duge

I had a problem with dodgy aftermarket regulators with all sorts of different problems on mine . In the end i bought a 3 phase rotor stator regulator kit wich is a more modern improved design from cycle electric and haven't had an issue since.

    Hi
    Thanks for the feed back.
I ordered a cycle electric stator, unlike most of the others it looked like it has a ome style plug, that's good cause the one on the bike is shagged. Mind you the original design isn't good, needs a clip or some thing to hold it together.
Don't know if I needed to, but got a new heavy duty rotor .
Cricky gasgets are dear, might see how the one on it is, the derby was good when I was changing the oil and adjusting the clutch.
I'm thinking there will be bearings that need attention behind all them chains an sprockets.
The manual I got in on the computa, I need to get a printer so I can take a page to the shed, that's why I stuffed up the diagnosis of the alt, got the tests mixed up in my ded hed.
