Got a old 88 sporty 883, currently has no speedo, did this model run a analog speedo and cable? as ive looked it certainly doesnt have an electronic drive, i'm wanting to buy a complete speedo setup if anyone has one kicking about

On later models the speedo is electric and can be recalibrated, I know this is of no help to you but what I do to check the calibration might be.
I use a small Garmin GPS I got 2nd hand off Fleebay. It is clear enough to see the speed I am doing and the current speed limit on the road I am traveling down.
