    G'day

I'm going to replace the front rim on my softail with a fat spoke rim. I was told new rim needs a 54 hole in the rotor and pre 1999 has 50mm ? The bloke also said I'll need to machine down the wheel spacers due to new rim has sealed bearings. I'm keen to upgrade rotor and caliper at the same time.

Anyone done this to their bike. I'm keen on the performance machine callipers ?

    Any tips or advice ?

    thanks

Yes have done it there are diffrant ways you can do it you can buy aftermarket rotors that do smaller / large
Hub flange adaptors to reduce bearing size or change out the bearings to 3/4 size axel seeing
You have a later one where the speedo runs from the box you dont have to worry about maching the speedo drive down
As for the the brake i have used the std evo one and also a after market brembo with adaptor
So you can do it just messure disc disstance from the fork caliper holes first to keep it the same or close to oem specs

From my experience bolting on a set of PM calipers matched to the original disc/rotor helps a bit.

Fitting a larger dia disc/rotor with matching caliper at the same time helps a lot. However it costs a bit more. It is nice to stop when you need to though.
