Hi, I've been smelling petrol while riding the past couple of days so tonight I decided to have a good check around... And discovered the quick-connect line/tap on the tank drips fuel if I touch it.
Any pressure from below and a drip comes out, the engine running is enough to vibrate it and a drip comes out. In other words the bloody thing is leaking.
Two questions:
How do I remove the fuel line to see what the problem is (if it's a "quick release" like the name says, can I just pop it out? And what happens to the fuel when I do? The tank is full btw,
and
Anyone have any idea how to fix it? Is it just an o-ring or do I need a new tap?
Cheers, Scott
URGENT UPDATE, so I found out how to unclick the line (just liftbupmthensilver ring around the out side and pop the line down) so I did so and checked to see if anything was caught in there of on the line end (it wasn't) then when I went to click it back in its way worse. It's now flowing like a slow tap. No way I could ride it to a mechanic any more. Help!!
Is it plugged in fully. try pushing it in hard whilst pushing the chrome sleeve up and then pulling it down again to lock it in. If that fails then read this. Is it leaking when you insert the male fitting into the quick connect or could it be leaking from a loose quick connect itself, that is the fitting that screws into the tank, and when you push or pull on it, it leaks more?. The fitting into the tank has a narrow nut and is sealed by an 'O'ring. It should be tightened to 22-26 ft-lbs if it is loose. It should not leak when the supply line is disconnected as there is a check valve in the chrome quick connect fitting. If it is tight, and still leaking, then you have to drain your tank and remove the quick connect and inspect the check valve for debris. The seal in the bottom of the quick connect may be damaged in that case you will need a new one.
