    What exhaust Tat ?
A slightly late builder, but kicks in nicely a bit over 3k, and carries the torque well.
I'm sure it feels like a totally new bike.
    Nice job again by Alan.

Speedzter its a V&H Pro pipe that is need of a baffle as its been cut up ( pretty much open megaphone )
I would like a new 2 into 1 pipe but have no clue on what is a good pipe
or if you have any ideas on a good set of pipes don't be shy
though I do have a thing for 2 into 1

Nice. That's a 585 cam and 2-1 curve alright. Big improvement everywhere compared to what you had.

2-1 pipes to consider are the d&d fatcat and supertrapp supermeg. Not the best looking 2-1 exhausts but arguably the best performing for a build like this.

My build is similar to yours and getting dyno tuned next week. I also have 585 cams, a 2-1 exhaust (supertrapp) but it's a 107 with 10.4:1 static comp and my heads are untouched (as is the throttle body).

585 cams are good when they're on but I want a bit more down low. Hoping the tune might fix that.

Pete at Robbos. Chriso put me onto him and swears by him, as does the good fellow who assembled my motor.

Real interested to see your results Fatbat ... mine is a 106 s&s ... 10.5 to 1 ... with the 79cc s&s Heads ... 585 Gear drive Cams ... Screaming Eagle 50 mil Throttle body but with the stock injectors , is supposed to be a more manageable / street rideable ... PC 5 Tuner ... with Freedom 2 into 2 Independence pipes ... stock gearing

Only getting 100 Hp with a 108 Torque , not totally over the moon with results for money spent but it is fun from Zero to say 160 / 170 , after that not so much

Before I get jumped on by people saying why do you want to travel at those speeds for , well that's not the point , surely if a certain engine design is supposed to be capable of achieving certain figures and it doesn't then I believe it is quite a normal thing to want to know why not ... now if my figures are not that bad then great , hence the interest in seeing or hearing about others results , if I have the wrong Combo / set up then hopefully I can learn

Recently Fred from Procycle Dyno up here in Brisbane chucked on a set of Supertrapp Supermegs just to see the difference and jumped to 110 Hp and a 114 Torque with just a base run so might be a little better with a full tune ... better but still not outstanding compared to what others say they get

Anyhow will be sought of nice to see if you get some decent figures especially considering you haven't changed heads or throttle body

Just to be clear and not send out the wrong idea ... Fred DID NOT build the motor , he just put up with my whinging about why isn`t this thing a shit load better , Lol ... for the record he believes I have the wrong Head / Cam combo ... Thoughts anyone

Tat2 u I see where you have the Pro Pipe on , can I ask what the rest of the motor consist of ... again just trying to get the ideas of other people .

TJU my 106 with 585's stock heads, TB and short shots gets 96/114. Getting heads done at the moment and will be fitting a D&D Bobcat 2:1 and larger TB with 4.9 injectors. Mine goes real well through the whole rev range and winds right off the speedo

Thanks Daggs ... Tat2 u got back to me as well and it is starting to be a bit more clearer that my figures may not be as bad as I first thought , especially considering that with a decent set of 2 into 1`s it will be up over 110 Hp and over 115 Torque .

My fault I suppose for being a little naïve and believing to many wild stories from people who reckon they got 120 plus Hp figures with simular type combo`s / set up`s ... I would imagine there is always going to be those special or freak motors that might get up there but it would seem that from what you and Tat2 u and my own figures are then that is most likely a fair indication as to what these builds are capable of .

Now the only thing I have to work at not worrying about is the top end speed because there is absolutely no chance mine will wind off the speedo ... as mentioned above , up to 160 / 170 bloody fantastic but does struggle after that ... no way would ever get near 200 ... AND I of course don`t ride at those crazy speeds very often , Lord knows I am a law abiding citizen , Lol ... but again there is always going to be that part of my Ego / Vanity / sub-conscious or whatever that will always bug me that it won`t get the higher speeds others say they are getting .

Lets not forget to factor in the reality that I am a 150 Kg Fat Bastard and that certainly won`t help the power to weight ratio , Lol .

Again thanks for feed back and am still always curious to see and hear of others results ... if Dyno man or Lushy , if he still checks in or any other well informed Engine wizards want to leave their feed back ... good or bad ... then please do .

    Thanks .

Did you get to ride it with the 2-1 ? I'd say 110/115 is quite respectable.
I'm sure you lose about 1HP for every extra 10 kg !!

I did a basic 103 on my brothers bike a few years back, with ported stock valve heads, and he's seeing the same numbers as you.
He also complains it runs out of steam at higher speeds.
But it has a mouse Cam compared to the 585.
My little hot rodded 95 inch has a similar ('ish) cam to the 585 (wood TW8) with some nice heads, and it pulls hard into the 200+ zone (on a closed track !!)
I'd guess it would be close to 110/110 but not dynoed.

    Horse power and dollars
The more dollars you throw into it
The more ponnies you think you get
But with that the reliability must go
    Out the window
From what I had to what I've got and the
Dollars thrown at it I could not be happier
As I stated this was built to a budget
    And came in under that
So you can't ask for more than that
I would recommend dynoharley to any other
That wants a very honest strong build
And for me to say that I must be impressed
    Cause I don't sing anyone's praises lightly

The numbers aren't the be all and end all but of course everyone wants them big!

But they are a guide to different combos.

More important is the increase from before and after dyno and just knowing the bike is running at its best, more efficient, AFR correct, smooth through the whole rev range, better throttle response etc

I have mates that have same year or slightly later than mine (with Stock 103, just a/c and pipes changed) that won't do 200 as well.
I don't understand why when mine even when it was just at 96ci and tuned with a canned PC3 map did over 200 easily with just the same basic mods.

It doesn't matter I know but just wonder why they differ so much.

Gidday again guys ... Speedzter , didn`t actually get to ride with the 2 into 1`s on ... Fred just did me a favour to try and put my mind at ease to show me that it was able to get into that 110 / 115 plus area which was good to see ... he just did a base run with a little tinkering and it went from the 100 / 108 .. to .. 110 / 114 ... up to me now to decide which pipes to go with ... the ones we experimented with were Supertrapp Super megs but more or less straight through and way to loud to consider riding everyday and staying in possession of my license .

Plus like you say if I take into account the extra Bulk the poor old girl has to carry and a full tune then there is always the possibility that she will indeed be up in the 115 / 120 plus figures which I think I would be pretty happy with ... does that mean I have to actually get some exercise and loose some of this hard earned flab , Lol

You touch on a very good point Tat2 u ... reliability , no sense in having some wicked monster that needs a rebuild twice as often as something a bit milder ... the journey to find that happy middle ground is the tricky one for me , Lol

Daggs ... it`s been said many times and you are so right that numbers are not the be all and end all ... as mentioned up above somewhere the beast is bloody amazing from Zero to 160 / 170 and such an improvement from what it was in stock form and constantly she leaves me with a huge grin ... I reckon if I never tried to see what she pulled in top end or never put her on the Dyno then I would never have been the wiser ... but I do like to torture myself and see if all my hard earned pay is doing what is expected of it so to speak .

Again guys really appreciate the reply's and still look forward to seeing others results and combo`s / setups .

Cheers to one and all .

I don't know much about the engine specs Tat but by the sound of it, that is a good job done.
I had a couple bits done on my bike 2 years back after I had a cam bearing collapse.
I have new crank, cam plate, 527 SE cams, bored to a 103 with new pistons
jetted with 200 main and 50 pilot

never had a dyno as I think they are only for EFI bikes, but it pulls very much harder and get to much faster than it used to go, and pulls hard all the way there

good to here you are happy with your old girl since the make over

Soapbox, Dyno tuning is definitely not just for EFI. Any bike will benefit from a good tune
