Hi, I'm looking for a new HD (after a break of 15 years) and saw this picture a few days ago.
Can you plz tell me everything you know about this one?
I really like this apehanger but can't find it anywhere, any ideas?
Stock front fork? it looks so narrow...
What about the rims? stock Iron 883 rim 19" in front? and rear? (maybe black powdercoated)
    What about the seat? TT&co?
and finally do you recognize which gas tank this is?
I'd appreciate any information about this Sportster and I really need your help on this. Thanks

    Nigel

Looking at the battery cover and engine I would say it is a solid mount (pre 2004) model sporty. Wheels are standard sportster mags, 19 front and 16 rear. Forks are lowered. Seat, not sure. Tank is not stock, looks like a wassal or similar style. Bars I don't know, sorry. TC

Thanks for the reply TC. Of course, the battery cover... ! I guess the black primary sent me on a wrong path.
    Anyone else about those bars?

Looks like it's broken down on the side of the road and the owner is calling for help

pre efi/rubber mount (derby and battery dead give away) standard narrow front, 883 wheels in black, film on headlight cover, some bespoke bars (looks like something zombie performance make)

alien tank, coil relocation, rough crafts seat, rear fender struts cut, shortened rear guard.

nothing a couple of weekends and a bit of $$$ couldn't do. Looks good though.

have a look on chopcult forums. Owner probably on there.

    ^^^^^ What he said ^^^^^

    1. 1996-2003 Sportster
    2. Standard alloy wheels - powdered I suspect
    3. Amber headlight (pick them up anywhere)
    4. Standard forks with chrome dust covers and they look lowered (Burly Slammer kit will sort that out for you front and back)
    5. Coil relocation
    6. Seat could be rough crafts or Easyriders or something of that nature but if you look long enough you'll find one
    7. Grips look like Hippy Killer (could be wrong) and the bars - just google Apes in images and you'll find them pretty quickly
    8. Tank is one of those Alien style ones - Lowbrow Customs

All in all, there isn't a lot to it and considering you can pick up a 90's 1200 Sportster at present for under $7k; go nuts!!

    Thanks for the replies.

@brash : it would be great if you could find the owner
I checked Zombie Performance without succes for those bars

@883n Harley Convert : that's just what I like about this sportster, it looks great and not too expensive to do.
About googeling Apes in image, that's what I did for the very first minute I saw this pic, but believe me after hours I still can't find anything

Anyone about those bars? It'd be great.

Have you tried googling the image itself?

Might take you to the owner or tell you more about the bike

Yes Outcast I googled the image itself, this brought me to deviantART (kind of an artistic site not directly bike-related) with no other information about the owner or the bike.

I think that vintage of sporties is the pick to build a cool town brawler with, reasonably priced, easy to work on, won't leak all over your garage floor (much) parts a plenty.

I've been eyeing off a lot of ironhead sporties for potential projects but after riding a few they are too underwhelming without spending your left nut.

    Thanks for the tips.
Do you think it's a better choice than a jonger one? solid vs rubber mont, carb vs efi, etc...
Tell me what you think about it please.

Depends what you're after mate and what your budget is. Carby's are generally easier to work with than fuel injection if that's what you're used to, but the older Sporties without the rubber mounts vibrated a fuck load so that might irritate ya.

Yes young Sprocket, the bars you had made in UnZud do look good workmanship.

The bars might look good but they incorporate the risers so there is no adjustment in the position of them...Something to think about....
