    Hi,

I was riding in a group of 4 when were pulled over for what I thought was just a breath test at Gin Gin on Saturday heading south back to Perth.

After the breath test one cop started checking the noise Db level of the exhaust. My bike is new so still has standard exhaust and so were 2 others. The fourth person had Vance and Hines pipes and failed the test.

Has anyone else been checked in Perth lately ?

Anything other than stock Original pipes can get you a defect

That sucks for your mate. I'm in Perth and haven't had any dramas YET, and I've driven around plenty of cops, but I think it's only a matter of time. Though I'm hoping my luck continues to hold out as I really have no intention to change my V&H pipes.

Fortunately I do still have my stock pipes should I need them.

What's the point of owning a Harley of it sounds like a fucking sewing machine? This is the same shit that all but destroyed the V8 market.

Whole thing seems fricken ridiculous when jumbo jets that sound 1000 times louder than any single bike can fly and take off with gay abandon and not upset the road traffic authority knit pickers.

Keith, the bike was defected and has to go over the pits.

Careyman, the Cops did the test. They seemed to think it was amusing and didn't care about the hassle they caused. i.e. changing pipes and the pits.

Far Canal, Yes my mother lives under the flight path at Sydney. When I stay there I cannot sleep until after 11pm when the last flight comes it. The house shakes.

No good im sure. 3 out of four were legal and they pick on the one that isn't, Why?, did he look like a club member or give them attitude? ruins a good trip huh?
I'm interested to know exactly, how did they do the test.

The person that got in trouble was a lady in her late 50s'. So no attitude given. we are all HOG members. The test was done with a small hand held device. I was being breath tested and asked for my license at the time so did not see it done. I guess the pipes look after market( V& H on them).

You get a defect for noise and go home to try and sleep it off, but the planes landing overhead, the rubbish truck, the neighbour's dog and the neighbour's mower, whippersnipper and blower keep you awake...

They go through periods of this in Perth.

Don't know what sets them off each time , public complaints or Carl O'Callaghan ?

Coupla years ago it was at Cottesloe beach , then Scarborough

Out in the country ? yeah I can believe that.

I've serviced and tuned several Loud piped Harleys for coppers before now and they hate that shit too !!

Both of mine are loud , and the V&H equipped Springer 110 CVO is EXTRA obnoxious loud !

Where's next ? Toodyay road on a Sunday FFsake ?

    G'day Brike.

I heard that they are tageting any pipe with Vance & Hines etc.

BTW just out of interest did any of the cops have a non Aussie accent?

    Hi Digger,

I did not notice any non Aussie accents, but I was not right next to them. There was a whole swag of cops.
On the plus side it was over 40 degrees that day and they were outside in it.

No worries mate..things have changed a lot traffic wise since a big recruitment drive
from the UK. Most of these blokes & some females went to traffic on bikes.

They are on the look out for anything with the Vance & Hines logo also.

Not a surprise since the Police Chief is also from the UK..

I have been thinking of putting a hidden kill switch on my bike, so if they want to test my bike I can flick a switch but mysteriously it will not start. I thought coppers could not do noise tests because you needed to be specially trained, in a open area free from any object for X amount of metres with the correct and calibrated equipment. That's why they send you to an approved epa tester.

be carefull what you wish for, in regards to going over the pits.
If you have a CVO, your factory braided lines will need to be RE_PLACED.
    they can be fckn bastards
