    Is the sticker pink/purple ?

If so it's an import thru' the RAWS compliancing scheme. THAT'S A RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE PROCESS !!

There has also been , and continues to be , a trickle of bikes arriving under the "personal import scheme"

This is Aussies having lived abroad for 2+ years , OR new migrants from NZ / UK / Canada etc bringing their own bikes

I've seen "PERSONAL IMPORT" bikes here in Perth WA from NZ / Ireland / UK / Singapore / South Africa / Canada

The paperwork for personal imports is way more simple , but such bikes are really quite rare on the "For sale" market !

You still have to be careful with 5HD Frames.

    I'll qoute from Chopaweeza

"Be cautious with 5HD frames .

Being a 5HD does not necessarily mean it's from an Australian delivered bike . All Harleys that are not for the US market are 5HD VIN's . I had one I inspected recently that came back as being from a Japanese bike and as it had not been complianced here was worth scrap metal value . Unless it has an Australian Compliance plate or a RAWS purple Compliance plate with the Import Approval avoid it ".

Just curious, but why would it matter if personally imported? Mine was personally imported and has a yellow sticker (Victoria) with the VIN number and personal import approval date and coat of arms. If the bike has been registered with a State agency, won't they be able to run the VIN number, or can't you do a search along the same lines as searching vehicle history to establish proper ownership etc?
