Could anyone help me with an oil pump problem. I have 96 Road King and recently had the oil pump off for a pressure problem. Circlip had come off the pump shaft, and I have replaced gaskets and circlip, but still no pressure. Does the pump need priming? If so, how? I have had it off before with no drama at all. Thanks.
It's Ok thanks mate I have discovered the problem. The shaft had gone too far inwards, dropping the locking key into the gear case, just like it says can happen, in the service manual. Should be reasonably plain sailing to rectify this... Yay!! back on the road soon. That's what it's all about hey?
While on the subject of locking keys, I am wondering if it matters which way you fit them. I have always put the curved side down into the slot on the shaft, but it occurs to me now that putting the flat side into the shaft slot might make the job easier? Any opinions?
