ah the beauty of bikes squid, what you see is how a bloke likes his to be and only he has to like it at the end of the day, wether its weird or not.[or red]
as pauly said you can see a blokes skill in a bike 'cause theres no body to cover it up as in cars.
different tastes give up good talking points over a beer or 3.cheers

Too true Bruce, at the end of the day nothing beats riding something you worked on. Thanks a million mate for the kind words! That's what I like seeing in other bikes, all the different ideas big or small there's always a bit of inspiration from everyone to gain

Cheers denali74! Here's a very very short video, it's all I got right now but I will get something decent up for you all soon

Not sure if I mentioned it but we scrapped the idea we started doing with running a rolled edge around the fender and decide to try a ridge down the middle, only just long enough it shows up just past the seat to mimic the center ridge the runs down the top of the tank. It's subtle but was a nice touch and now makes them more of a matched pair

After getting plenty of ride time on it over the last few months, we started playing with another tank. This one was a Jesse James villain tank that we are down sizing as these tanks are way to big for a softail frame. As you see in the pic it's just sitting there, not mounted. It's been cut in half and the bottom removed, closed together by about 2" and sticky taped together. Also chopped 3" off the length, and will be cutting around in inch out of the height. The rear end will have to be shaped into the frame for a nice fit after chopping 3 inches off. Will be frisco mounting it and making some really low straight cut drag bars off the top clamp. Being frisco mounted means the sporty pump will pick up next to no fuel so I'm going to mod that so that pickup sits down the rear of the tank. Can't find for the life anyone who's modded these pumps to do this, but where's there's a will there's a way.

Tim mate you're dead right, it just never ends. I'm an ideas man, and it costs me a a fortune haha. Same to you, hope you have a great chrissy mate and enjoy yourself out there

Taking shape. Think once I change the bars it'll look even better but so far I'm loving it

Played around with bars today. I'm going to move them around a bit tomorrow, not completely happy with the angles, but it's close. Also I over done the length so I could chop them back once the angle I wanted was achieved. Probably take about an inch amd a half off each side to bring them in more. Loving the sexy lines of the bike now

And an idea of headlight placement. Will be using a smaller headlight like this one off the heritage chop too.

I must be the only one with no life still working in the shed ok Christmas Eve and most likely will be doing the same on Christmas Day? Oh well keeps me busy. Merry Christmas to you all.

Bit more on the bars. Lifted them up a touch and gave them a bit more pullback, and cut 3/4" off either end, still think I need to take another inch at least or more off. But overall they're coming along nicely. Surprising, they look really uncomfortable, but with that seat sinking you deep into the bike, and inline springer bringining them in close, they're actually really comfortable for me. You lean forward a little, but not strectched. This tank really goes with the lines from every angle, really happy with how it's coming together. Still need to shorten the length, add internal throttle and I'm going to flush mount the mini warning indicator lights into the bars. Drill the bars and the all they need is the welding finished off, clean up and powder coat

    Love the clean look

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to your self and Loved ones there Squid .

I reckon when you get some hand controls and other assorted Bar ornoments on there the Visual effect won`t seem so noticable ... being totally blank they do seem to be quite wide and of course having such a stream lined tank there it also enhances the width of the bars .

But as usal it seems to be coming along nicely ... stay well and keep surprising us , Cheers .

G'day Tim, cheers mate! Merry Christmas to you and the family too (I'm a bit late sorry)

You know what you're dead right, the bright bare metal does play mind tricks. once black as you said it won't seem so wide. Grabbing onto where feels comfortable though I find there's at least an inch or more easily taken off the ends. It's all a bit of a visual adjustment after having taller bars for so long.

And thanks again for your support mate. Some days I wonder if anyone's even looking haha, but can always count on you to show your head with ideas or constructive criticism. Happy holidays and a safe one out there on the roads mate

    Ray

I think we have a winner!
ive literally haven't touch a thing in weeks, just sat there starring at it all this time moving the tank a little bit every few days. We haven't haven't added the 1/2" at the bottom of the front of the tank yet, which I think that fraction more depth at the front will make all the difference. The bars still not 100%. But I sticky taped a new headlight on in the rough position where I want it and it's actually made everything look killer how it sits now if I don't say so myself. I'm really digging this. Thinking I will paint the rank the white black and orange with 74 again but a little different to suit this tank better, and I'd do the headlight in a matching paint scheme too
