Yeah I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. The wiring was in English, but it looked liked there were some words used that was German, and that was for almost half the wires. Made it really difficult as short explanations they'd give didn't always make sense with what the HD wiring diagram showed. Defintely tested my patience too mate lol

I little black on black pin striping on the headlight a buddy done for me today. It's nice and subtle, most won't notice but a cool but of detail for those who do.

Hard to get good photo of it

Hey Squid i couldn't be arsed going back through your old posts, were you getting around the GC on the dark blue softy with a frenched rego plate and apes? Remember seeing it on here awhile back and then clocked you from my balcony at palmy?

Never ridden a dark blue softy before, you sure you're thinking of me Jayman? Blacked out denim black softy with apes yeah. Though I don't recall ever riding down through Palm beach on it as I had moved up to the north side by then and never ventured down there again

Sorry Squid, I must've confused you with someone else on here. I remember your bike now, black everything with the mickey mouse light up instrument panel. Wish I'd had a chance to see it in real life. Nice mate, love what your doing with the build. Cheers!

Not at all man, I've ridden past many a copper, never been stopped. My pipe is reasonably noisy, and I've had my share of run-ins for various other scallywag behaviour, but never been pulled on my sled. I've got no association whatsoever with any clubs, so I don't figure any reason to get my collar felt.

Your right about those small details Squid ... I reckon it makes all the difference , even as you say most might not get it or even notice it ... thumbs up as far as I am concerned .

Recently changed my Springer Bars back to stock ones as well as Stock top triple tree and stock risers that have the rubber isolators built into them ... the vibrations was getting
a tad unbearable ... wasn`t to bad when we lived down town Logan way as I wasn`t doing the bigger K`s that I use the 08 Twin Cam for but now that we have moved out to a more Rural
area , half way between Brissy and Toowoomba the rides on the Springer weren`t as enjoyable .

Bloody beautiful scenery out this way but lets say it`s hard to see where the money we spend on road improvements goes ... ah well the price we pay for peace and quite ... at least
until I fire up the Twin Cam anyhow ... Lol .

Feels heaps better on those 300 to 400 K`s day rides ... just on the search now for some decent 1.25 or 1.5 inch diameter Black bars that suit Springer risers as the original ones are chrome ...
doesn't look totally bad , just a little out
of place with the rest of the style of the old girl ... may just black out the bars I have but as they are only 1 inch diameter we had to take the wiring out of the old bars that was internal and now
have the wiring on the outside which doesn't lend itself to the clean look I had before .

All part of the fun when we look back on it ... well that's what I tell myself anyway ... keep up the excellent work Squid .

    Tim .

Thanks Tim! I very much like subtle detail, easy on the eye I reckon.

I'm hearing ya about the vibrations, I'm going to be exposed to that with the solid risers on mine, though I'm already aware of what I'm in for as the last bars I had even though there were rubber bushes in the risers, I had billet grips that sent enough vibration through my hands my fingers would go numb. With the size of the tank (all 9 litres) and the amount of motor work, this was never going to be a long distance bike any more. But to be honest, I'm young enough I'd still happily ride this thing 1000kms in a day again....will just need to pull up for fuel every 100km lol

I use to live out Toowoomba a few years ago, use to drive to Brisbane every week so I knowwbat you mean about the roads. Up in North qld where I am now, the roads are a lot worse, appalling actually. The Hiways are ona terrible state as well, it's not appealing to ride on.

I run 1" bars with sharp angles (RSD short stacks) and while i only have two wires on either side running through them, on the right side I've run the brake line and the throttle cable internal along side two wires through the sharp 90 degree angles, so I would of thought your switch wiring would go through alright on on your style of bars?

I'm away at work till end of next week, and the last few weeks I've got a lot done, but a lot of it is stuff you don't see or isn't on the bike yet, so visually nothing's really changed over the last month or so. Though next days off I'll have the last of the wiring finished, the new trick tank shift (changed shit on it a bit more) and the bars finished off and back on with the brake line running internally with the throttle cable. Then really it's just finishing off the brake lines and trimming the seat. Then off to get tuned. I might end up doing the 110 SE barrels/pistons if I can get it for the right price, that would only take a couple days to change that out though
I'll get some new pics up after next weekend

Here's one of me doing the wiring last weekend, not all fun and games, but the misses chills on the couch in the garage while I work on the bike a lot, so it's been good. We will start building her a bike soon

Been watching this thread from the begining.

Im sure many are as impressed by your build as im am and good on ya for posting all the build steps up.

If you get a photoshoot and write up in some bike magazine, let us know so we can have a bo peep at the mag.

You hinted at ideas to be put up by forum members.

So would love to see a shoot of your bike on an ocean front spot at night time with the moon low on the horizon over the water. The moonlight on the water lining up with the bike with subtle soft camera lighting to keep the dark custom theme of the bike.

Reckon something like that would make a good poster shot.

Mick first of all thanks very much for the kinds words mate. I'm still surprised at how many quietly follow this thread

That description of a photo shoot sounds like a killer idea, my brother does photography on the side as a hobby, so there's a good chance I could organise a shoot on a full moon down by the water. I completly agree on keeping a dark feel about the shoot. I had in mind a dark lit back street in the city. Some where that looks like a rough place with some old heritage building or something. I think we will try a few different spots, that'lol give a better chance something will work well.

Not sure it will ever reach a magazine but that's be cool if it did! Will defintely share if it does

Well I orderd a SE 110 barrels and pistons. With the machined heads and TB, 11:1 compression, bigger injectors, rods, lifters etc along with the 50kg weight reduction this should be a fun thing

Tank shift finished. That's a digital gear indicator plus two stage shift light flush mounted into the top of the aluminium grip

Ah to be young again , Lol ... there are those occasional times these days that I still get that young at heart feeling ... usually associated with the Bundy fuel that I intake but every now and again when you get in the groove on a back country road and some sweeping bends that wonderful feeling of why we ride these things comes rushing back .

Your right about the wiring fitting through the 1" bars , shouldn't cause to much of a headache ... just like the slightly chunkier look and of course any excuse to spend some of the hard earned is a disease I don`t think I will ever conquer , Lol .

That's going to be a very clean looking front end with the way you have hidden all the wires and lines ... is that one of those Day maker headlights ... fingers crossed the cage drivers will see you coming because from the sounds of things you will be coming quite quickly .

Up North hey ... have you been up and down the Gillies Hwy , up near Cairns... can't remember how many corners it has but was up that way a few years back on one of slightly longer rides and came down it and I reckon I was getting dizzy by the time we got to the bottom ... again can`t remember the name but a real nice old pub down the bottom before you get to far back into civilisation ... the boy racers must have a field day with that road as well as the boys in blue I reckon .

    Cheers .

Haha yeah mate there's nothing like strapping it through some weaving country roads to make you feel alive. The costs involved defintely make it hard to get ahead in life once you get the bug, but to me it's worth it.

Yep that's a Daymaker, bright as all hell so hopefully they see me lol

I have been up that way but not for awhile. It's a fun stretch. Actually there's a lot of nice riding roads up that way, up to cairns and into the tablands. Really it's the only decemt long distance rode for us, everything west and south really doesn't have much the eye. I love a bit of scenery, just adds to the whole experience
