Got the pipe on, and ended up just painting the oil tank in wrinkle again, that's all in and hooked up. Cut the horn mount off the engine mount and welded in a new piece and riveted in some thread bungs and mounted the coil to it. Also finished messing around with the tank shift, works nicely now Just needs a coat a paint now

Welded up the holes in my rear fender that I had originally drill for the "sparto" style tail light (now side mount). Started painting parts, fender first and turns out something's wrong with the paint or the moisture in the air. So I had to put all that on hold.

I made up some front indicator mounts instead. I picked up some longer top clamp pinch bolts so the thread came through the other side so I could throw a bolt on to mount the mounts to. I ran them here as I didn't want them off the bars

Finished the switch panel that rides on the back bone underneath the tank rear mount. Indicator lights, reset button and ignition switch are on the panel. The speedo is mounted down lower off the rocker box. Everything is in good vision. Switch panel blends in nicely, pretty happy with it. I'll hide the shotgun switches hidden away under the tank.

I know the red missile switch is far from low key like how I've made the rest of the setup, but I wanted a little something there that gave that racey feel. I'm really digging it

Gidday Squid ... Does the heat from the motor have any undesirable effects on the operation of the speedo or any of the other electrics for that matter ... looks real clean and tidy by the way .

Hey TJU, the rocker box mount actually came from the same company that makes the speedo. It does say it should recieve plenty of air flow, which its get hanging off the other side, but on the left side....we will see lol

Here's a side pic of the switch panel, blends in nicely with the back bone

Changed out the indicator hardware for black hardware to help make it look a little neater.

And finished off this brake light number plate side mount that a buddy originally knocked up for me while I was around his place making some other stuff. He did a cool job of it

I'll also add that the new side mount takes the plate to the rear of the tyre so easily seen at 45 degrees 20m back

After curting another set of wheel spacers, I'm much happier with the rear alignment now. Everything sits where should. Brake light/plate holder sits nice and low, tight to the tyre, but won't touch even in hard left leans. I have it running down on the same angle as the swing arm.

I've got the wiring finished (what a head ****). Reading German instructions on all of the digital and LED equipment and trying to relay that with the HD manual wiring diagram was a bloody nightmare. I spent the last few entire days tackling this alone. Actually one last thing I'm waiting on to call it done is a load equaliser for the LED indicators.

Got the new regulator on that arrived yesterday, and just about everything plugged back in ready to roll. Feels like it's getting close, but in reality im far from finished lol

I bought a grenade ignition/coil off the breakouts to use, but it wouldn't fit with the tank shift as the coil really needed to be tucked up in as close as possible to the motor. I ended up using the smaller stock coil. I neatly tapped the ends off where the plugs slide down, and wrinkle blacked it. I think it turned out pretty cool actually.
My only issue is the tank shift mount is going to make it hard to squish them plugs on. I can flip it and have the plug ends of the coil facing up, but if I can get away with out having to do that, it'll make using the shotgun switches a lot more user friendly as I'm mounting these switches off the engine mount where it bolts to the backbone. I wanted to keep these switches out of sight, but still comfortable to use while riding

Got the headlight, fender and struts painted in a satin black today as the flat black I painted them last week just didn't work as well as I thought. I sanded back the tank with some fine grit for a dual couple coats of clear. While I was at it I masked off the tank mounts and painted them black to help make them disappear when on the bike. Hopefully finish the tank tomorrow

This build is amazing mate. Great read!

What sort of paint are you using (more so on the previous build) to blacken out the chrome on the engine?
  • Squid83

Thanks mate! I used a mix of powder coat and  high temp satin black for the engine parts. The oil lines are a bit tricky in the way the dressing trims up the tank  side slide over ther lines. It's very very close fit and powder coat would be way to thick. Unless you had the trim setup in the right spot, and hope the powder coaters don't knock it about, you could get away with PC them. But could easly be fucked up and what a nightmare you'd have trying to get that shit all off. I just use high temp paint here, and just being extremely careful putting back in
