Wasn't too long ago I just finished changing up the bike. I was going to buy another bike or frame and build something else but it was easier to just strip this one and change it again. If anyone's got ideas feel free to chip in. Posting in these forums have lead me to some great parts that I would of never found if I had not posted threads and people chipping in. Forums seam to be the most useful tools for information to new parts on the market

Heres a pic of where I left it last

Everything bar the motor/box/primary/oil tank and frame is getting change

    Some progress pics

    Thanks for looking

I've been slack as with my posts, been real busy on my time off. A ton of new parts have turned up over the weeks, it's been Xmas 3x times a week and now got to know the delivery lady pretty well lol.

I got the new digital mini gauge turn up, it's bloody tiny and will hide away nicely mounted off the rocker box

Had a problem with the Exile primary opening for the rear belt running to the tranny shaft hitting when the air suspension is too low. This was going to be a major problem with chain setup going on as you can imagine. The belt just rubbed smooth, chain wouldn't be so nice. So I machined out a section in the exile bearing case to avoid any problems when riding low. Been cleaning up a few u tidy bits along the way

So with the bigger cams/cubes/compression done on the bottom end, it's been struggling to start for some time then the belt drive just added to it. I ended up buring out the starter motor. So I've chucked in an All Balls 1.4kw starter. I pulled the the top end and had manual comp realese tapped in. At the point I thought fuck it and had the heads and manifold/TB sent off to be ported, port matched and bench flowed. The heads will be shaved to bump the 10.5:1 compression to 11:1.

Still waiting on wheels, levers, hidden switch system and few other bits and pieces, but I now have a pretty big collection of parts ready to go on. Among them one of my favourites would be the new front brakes. PM 6 piston caliper with a Lydalls Racing Brakes ceramic composite 13" floating rotor teamed up with their gold edition pads. The caliper alone feels some what lighter then the stock 4 piston, but this rotor is literally feather weight, feels like you've picked up a frisby.

Rear wheel turned up just as I was walking out the door for a week. 15x7 with a 230 with just a single flange as I'm running a brake/sproket setup so the right side will be clean of the rotor and brake. Chucked the bars on too for a look. I had to notch out a section in the risers as they hit on the welds of the bars

Here's a couple pics to give you guys more of an idea where this is headed

That's awesome mate. I had a good look at that German speedo set up a while back. I will be very interested to see it fitted and going.

Thanks fellas, getting pretty pumped at this stage to get it finished.

The digital speedo looks quality, and I'm guessing a company as big world wide as Exile Cycles that Russell uses and sells them, It's got to be good. Everything I've bought from him hasn't been cheap but every item has been 10/10 in quality so I'm pretty confident this will exceed my expectation

Thanks mate. I wish I could cut the rear fender right back to the seat and expose as much of the tyre as possible. Though for legal reason, and for the fact I have a rocker c two up seat setup for it for when I take the lady for a ride, I can see it not ending well when the tyre grabs loose clothing haha, well not ending well for her

Haven't had much luck lately having a few wrong parts sent to me to complete the rear, plus I beentraveling a bit on my last two breaks so not a lot of recent progress has been made.

Really liking the lines and flow of how this is panning out

Still waiting on a couple things to be able to get back into working on setting up the rear end, so I got to work on the bars.

I had Exiles internal throttle and Grip Ace switches to install. The bars tubbing is thicker then normal so once I shortened the throttle side bar, I realised the internal throttle wouldn't slide in, so I then machine 2" inches of the inner surface to a perfect fit with the internal throttle. Drilled a hole for a grub screw that goes into the internal throttle housing and will use adhesive as a precautionary, but as it sits, it's a strong fit with no play.

The grip ace buttons proved a pain in the arse to cut into the grips, lucky I bought a second set as I fucked the first one up good and proper. Drilled a hole for the one wire to go in and she's all almost done. I've just got till the top end is back I can work out the length for the throttle cable to cut it to and run it through the bars. All in all it'll be a clean setup.

I wanted a minimal look up front, no gauges, no obvious switches or controls or lights. Unfortunately due to the narrow overall width of the bars, running the brake line internal is pointless, it would only enter on the vertical tubbing of the bars, and the short height of the bars would mean it'd be a waste of time in my opinion. I can make the brake cable near and relatively hidden with the springer so there won't be cables flailing in the wind

Outstanding work Squid.... I been too lazy for mods on my train. Am about ready to run it across to WA. Rode to Qld a couple of weeks ago with the Ultra, am missing the toys now!

    Keep up the great work..

Pulled my finger out this arvo and welded up the front seat tab and fender and brake tabs on the swing arm.
I trimmed the size of seat down a bit and re-shaped it a little to work in with the tank and fender a bit better, and rolled the edges back off.
Also trimmed the gender back and shapped out some mounts off the sides of the fender for the struts to mount to. Run out of time to cut the struts and drill the holes out.
Finally actually got most of the primary back on, been saying I'd started on it ages ago, but then realised I accidentally through the gasket out between the crankcase and primary. Got a new one and through most of it together.
Ordered 4 indicators from Kellermanns, recieved only two...its all good

Here's some pics of the fender mocked up. Would love it to be about 8" shorter but as we all know in Australia a few things cops love to pick is side mount plates, it seams every cop knows they are illegal. So I needed the number plate to hang of the back and be able to be read to try take a bit of heat off me. I trimmed it narrow to flow with the tank and seat, beings how fat the tyre is, this was something I needed to do to give this a chance at working with the narrow tank. All in all I think it's as good as it's going to get

Also got my new pipes the other day. Wrapped them up, admittedly not my best wrap and I need to redo the ends near the heads as it was 1am when I finished up on them and my care factor was in the high 0's. These were built by Franky Serrano and I manage to buy them second hand off a guy in Sydney. Had clCompetition Coatings ceramic coat them as they were chrome. These way at least half the weight of the v&h pipes I had so more weight reduction to the bike. This things going to be light weight by accident. They have no baffles so that's something I'm going to look into making in the future once it's on the road, for now these short little pipes will annoying everyone in the neighbourhood

Thanks Ricca! The fender will be mounted to the swing arm, so the only clearance issues is the seat, but there's plenty room as the springs are fairly stiff and in those pics the swing arm is sitting on the bump stop, so that's my minimum clearance right there

By all means start a new build and be sure to share it mate
