Just a heads up that Pro Lift (who make the orange, Repco bike lifts) don't offer any kind of service if your warranty has run out - and they made it clear you'll only get service then if you have a receipt.

My bottle jack was leaking and one of the handle brackets broke and they've basically said they don't deal with them out of warranty. no  Fucking throwaway world, money grubbing

It would be cheaper for them to replace it then pay someone to repair it here in australia.
Have you looked at repairing it yourself i did a trolley jack about 20 years ago it was pretty straight forward places like enzed pirtek should have seals.

One of the seals is leaking, but I replaced (twice) it and it's still leaking, so I'm betting when the piece of metal (the pedal you push to lower the jack) snapped off it's because something wasn't right, metal wise, to begin with. Around the hole I noticed "crumbling" metal bits.

I was thinking of buying a bottle jack to replace the broken one, but the bottle jack and setup is different to most bottle jacks so unless the pro lift ones are very similar (I know the smaller one isn't) the whole thing is junk.

If you think it's worth the trouble, you could try going through whatever version of business and consumer affairs is in your state.

I can't say what any outcome will be, but I read Choice magazine a lot, and they say something to the effect that even if a product is out of warranty, there's still a requirement for the supplier to supply goods of a merchantable quality, and if they don't they must offer a repair, replace or refund.

And you don't have to have a receipt, just proof of purchase. At least some of what Pro-lift has told you doesn't comply with consumer law.
