Got myself a 21x3.5 inch wheel on the way for my softail. The company I bought it from had a chart on their website stating what sized tyres you can put on individual rims. For the 21x3.5 rim the chart said you can fit a 120mm wide tyre.
Got me wondering what size rim the breakout has on the front? As I believe they sport a 130mm wide tyre. Had a look on google and there is plenty of info on breakouts tyre sizes but nothing on the rim size. So, anyone know what the front rim size is on a breakout?
Thanks in advance.
Pretty sure they are 21 x 3.5...I just picked one up fo my Wideglide but it won't be going on for a little while....
I have been looking at buying a breakout front rim lately and everything i have read suggests 21x3.5 as well. I went and read the specs and your right they are fitted with a 130 tyre.
Cheers for the responses. So whats a breakout wheel worth? Just paid a ransom for a chromed billet alloy number with stainless spokes( it's meant to fit the standard hub,no other mods[not even fender?]). Us dollar vs Aussie doesn't help. However my FXST has a spoked rear wheel and the breakout one would look odd on the front to me. Today I noticed on the VPW website that they have a 21x3.5 inch front wheel available for half what I paid for mine but it has those really fat spokes, so to match on the back you'd perhaps want to buy a pair.
It would seem then if breakouts do have a 21x3.5 rim and run a 130 tyre then there is no reason I could not put a 130mm tyre on another brand rim?
Funny how the fatbobs front wheel looks so fat at 130mm but the breakouts does not. short and wide vs tall and wide.
My rear tyre was a 130 in the process of going 200 wide on the rear and 120 or 130 on the front can't see why you wouldn't be able to run a 130.Some rear rims are 3.5 and i've seen people run 130 up to 150 tyres on them. I have seen breakout rims go for $150 upwards and advertised for as much as $450 i think they look better chromed .
I just picked up a breakout front rim for $300....Cheapest iv'e ever seen one and I have been looking for a long time...
Well $150 for a rim sounds like a bargain.
