I would go over electricals. Check batt terminals, connections to main fuse, regulator earth etc. Usually always something simples.

When it dies, does it seem like it is stuttering, going from full to no power at various intervals? Check your coil leads. Maybe a split leading to arcing and one cylinder not firing. Any rain? Water would facilitate an arc. Otherwise as noted above, go over electricals.

PS: similar thing to what you describe happened to me one time, in intermittent rain, and it was a split coil lead.

Cheers all I cheeked the coil leads just then they seem to be sweet.. And all terminal leads seem fine think I'll put it in for a services and let them find it.. It's due for a 27000k service... Thanks again ... I just wanted to go for a long ride this weekend and know I don't think its a good idea...
