Thanks for the pics Mark . Me and Ted saw heaps going to Jindy as we travelled to Corryong and Wodonga . Most ridden , some trailered .

That Harley is an XA model , they built a 1000 for evaluation in the early war years . Based on a flat head beamer with shaft drive .

Tim and Keith, you are both correct ... Approx 1100 made for the US army, during WW2 ,, but the army stuck with the WLA ... Would'nt be many in Aust ,, and no doubt ,, they would be scarce in the US ...

Harley's may have been a hell of a lot different, (engine wise),, today, if the US army went with the XA instead of the WLA during WW2 ...

Thanks for the photo's Mark they are great.

I know someone who owns one of the XA models I seen it a few times but because it is so rare it's more of a shed bike than a road bike, btw love the WLA chop.

Great bunch of photos, I saw a heap of those bikes when they were on their way from Sydney just outside of Picton.

There was an XA up for Auction at Shannons Sydney Auction 2014 that is the first one I had ever seen in the flesh
