gday guys, just joined on here. Iv'e been getting on here looking around gathering info on different models. I live on the south coast of NSW not far from Nowra and at present suffering with depression and PTSD from my line of work. I have'nt ridden for about 11 or so years but i'm now finding myself becoming keen again( which is a very hard thing to have, motivation when you have this disorder) to get out and ride. My psych says that riding would be the best thing to get out and clear the cob webs so too speak. Unfortunately im not in a position to get a harley yet but hopefully down the track I will be able to. I'm really keen on the breakout so next week is a trip up to frasers wollongong to check out what would suit me

    cheers.

Welcome. Sorry of your predicament. Getting a bike doesn't need to be breakout first up. Many cheaper low mileage bikes and hds avail. The mind clouds do disappear when on road. Even better to find some mates on this forum to ride with.

G'day stinky, If you don't already have one then any bike is a good bike to get you out there and get riding again. You might be a bit rusty so try and hire, or get hold of a bike somehow, or buy a cheap jappa and get use to riding again. Practice is the key and as there is a shitload more cars on the road each year all trying to hit us, it doesn't hurt to do a riding course from stay upright or the like to learn some new skills either. When your happy and confident again in your riding, Get your Harley then. Your financial position might have changed for the better and you can sell the jappa usually for the same coin you bought it for, and then go for your Harley! you will be better prepared and happy you did. Cheers Hutch.

yeah Hutch hearing ya, wanting to do the course with skill master up at picton, heard good things about that. I was thinking about doing that getting a cheapo first, see how we go I was a fan of the jap when i was younger but i dont think my back would handle the ride style, Im better in a slouch style. Some one suggested a pretend harley virago but no I'd rather the real deal.

    Welcome aboard!

Like the others have suggested, take that riding course to get current and learn some new skills or brush up on the old ones.

I am like you, I need to ride to clear my head of demons, but you have to be careful and switched on as you well know.

Take each day as it comes, it does get better but you have to make it so.

    Cheers.

Welcome mate, get on a bike and get out there. As the boys said does not have to be a big $ bike first up, do a course to get you back into the game and the world is your oyster.
