Asked a question or 2 on this forum already.

It appears that charging right in without an intro is considered bad manners.

    So to make amends,

G'day. I've got a 2008 FXST that I bought new, after riding an 850 Guzzi for 24 years before that. First impression of the bike was "what the flamin hell did I buy this thing for?".  You know what these bikes are like staight from the showroom, very quiet and athsmatic. Bike developed an oil leak from between the crank cases in no time flat, luckily that repair (splitting the cases and re-gooing the joint) was under warranty.

Just after warranty ran out, oil started running out of the inner primary seal.

Must have changed the left hand fork seal 4-5 times before I really got the shits with it and bought a new fork tube, not that the original one had any visible damage. One or 2 rides later the seal is leaking again. Eventually put in some progressive gas cartridge type shocks that only use a squirt of oil to fix that one.

Have been changing things on it since. Had a big bore stage 4 kit put in and changed  the seat and handlebars and am now reasonably happy with it, except the oil leak from cylinder base gasket and the bikes handling. Got a fatter front wheel rim on order which oughta give a bit more confidence up front, then I will try to sort out the rear.

Look forward to being a part of this forum

    Cheers

Hi fc. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've had a bit of bad luck with yours. How many kms on it when you bought it, oz or grey import, and did it have a service history?

Hi Fatbat. Bike was brand spanking new!. All I had heard about the twin cams was how reliable they were. In fairness mine has never broken down and left me stranded on the side of the road. Just a habbit of losing oil and handling that is not convincing.

Welcome to the forum. Don't know how hard you ride your bike but I've had no real issues with mine other than scraping the pegs when I lean her over to far but I'm more of a cruiser than a racer. However Harley can do with better suspension and braking systems because in stock form they aren't to crash hot.
