    G'day guys,

I'm wondering if anyone here uses those body armour shirts under their jackets? I've had a look at the Knox stuff online, but was wondering if anyone here can recommend something? I've never used them, But I saw a decent bingle the other day, and there also seems to be a decent amount of riders getting knocked off their bikes in the papers. It got me thinking a bit more about safety. For a couple of hundred bucks, I reckon it might be a decent investment.

    Thanks for any help. Cheers.

I've got a Kevlar shirt made by draggin. It's not padded or armoured per se but would offer protection to your skin. It's just hot to wear so I don't wear it. It's made to wear underneath a shirt.

First I've heard of them mate. I guess any kind of protection is better than none at all. Maybe post a link for these items.  Maybe other members here can shed more light about them.

I'm astounded at how many riders I see getting around in just shorts, singlet, thongs etc, riding either cruiser or crotch rocket. Seriously, do they have a death wish or just a huge disregard for their own personal safety? Absolute bloody idiots in my opinion.  Maybe someone should take them to an emergency department to see the after effects of bare skin contact with bitumen or gravel. I know the pain and first hand effects of gravel rash, even though wearing all the protective gear available. I'm just lucky it was only confined to the buttocks, but that was still painful enough, I couldn't even sit down for 3 days.

Why not just wear a motorcycle jacket instead of armour under a shirt? Even for summer you can get some crazy breathable jackets. Kevlar also doesn't do shit except for abrasion resistance, zero impact resistance.

I'm thinking of it under the leathers....just some genuine impact resistance.

I used to wear a Dainese Vest under my jacket as it also offered impact protection. Now all my gear inc jackets have D30 armour so I no longer use it. Go with whatever feels comfortable/safe with you. Anything that gives you abrasion resistance and most importantly impact protection is a good thing...
