I solved my own pipe problem, 2" drag pipes with 4" baffles, not as loud as the thunders headers and look a lot better, loss of performance? only marginal, but then I have evo with super e carb and do not have to deal with electronics which I think have complicated a very simple motor.

yeh mate its what I had on my old Softy with the 120r

Your "old" Softy 120r was a horn bike mate. Love to see what could replace something like that!

Certainly a is beast reminds me of all the good bits that went into my 124.

Please tell me you dumped those chain drive cam shafts! My build runs solid gear drive S&S 585's and runs like a swiss watch. Literally no engine noise at all.

Im also intriqued how you could run pump gas (98 oct) with a comp of 12:1. I had my chambers cc'd and reduced to 10.8 :1.

Or maybe you dont use regular pump gas? Cheers

Had gear drives in the Softy but sticking with the chain drive SE267RX cam that come in the Hurricane kit and at 12.49/1 runs sweet as on 95 fuel,

My softy at its best did 128hp and 135torque and a 11.5sec pass, this Bob feels heaps quicker just waiting on my pipe, then tune and down the strip again.

Picked a pipe yet? Supertrapp and Yaffe have a style like ya posted first up

No closer yet on the exhaust but know it must be a 2 into 1 to deliver the goods on the dyno.

Have learnt more info on the D&D Fat cat and Boarzilla systems. The Boarzilla is primarily designed to suit larger displacement engines eg; 117 cubes and up.

    http://www.danddexhaust.com/content/2000-2011-harley-softail-boarzilla-21-full-system

It runs larger header pipes as a result. 1 7/8" at head port to 2" at collector then 2 1/2" where the muffler enters the collector. The muffler design may also reduce or eliminate the issue of scraping as with the low slung Fatcat.

Reviews state they are LOUD. Well the could not be any louder than what I have already!

Again  researching  the  "off the shelf" performance systems  I have only found one system that offers a larger diameter primary header pipe. D&D BOARZILLA.

RD racing is the exception to this but they are not exactly off the shelf. As I posted earlier I placed an order and the whole experience was really surreal. No confirmation of any order and no draw down of funds to pay for it? I cancelled.

Does anyone know of any other 2 into 1 system that runs 1 7/8" primary header pipes. Also anyone running the Boarzillas on a big cuber and what is your opinion?

Keep up your posts guys as I hope we can round up every decent 2 into 1 out there. I also believe that our collective contributions will help the next HD owner make an informed decision.

D&D Boarzilla below, at first I thought they were butt ugly but the more I look the more I warm to the possibility. May even look better on a Springer!

That is a better looking pipe than the Boarzilla! Now if I could have the tailpipe modified to turn out to the side in a large oval (lake pipe)??

Chriso does the tailpipe section attach to the collector or is it one piece? Could the tailpipe be cut back to allow the installation of a turnout end?

Also does the tailpipe utilise a removable baffle? Cheers!

Happy New Year guys, been looking for a good 2 - 1 myself and came across these guys from a post on the Harley Talking Forum.  U.S. price seems OK and will ship to OZ but the crap exchange rate plus freight makes them pricy though.  Still could be worth checking out as there is lots of favorable comments about.

Dunno if it's too late mate but RB Exhaust in US make a great pipe which really works. I run LSR -1 pipes on my bike and when I put em on it made the bike really come alive. If you look at their site the black and orange Softail Slim from Downunder is what I'm referring to.

Finding this post real interesting ... having simurlar problem my self ... my motor is not huge but my Dyno guy says my Freedom Independence are robbing the old girl of quite a few ponies ... 106 S&S ... Gear Drive 585`s ... 50 mil SE upgraded throttle body ... PC 5 ... 79cc S&S heads ... on a 08 Softail Custom ... only getting 100 Hp at this point .

Will be trying a set of Supertrapp SuperMegs soon to see how the figures compare ... if there is a huge difference then i might be swayed but not worth the change if only for 3 or 4 Hp gain in my book .

I also reckon another area you have to consider is the ground clearence issue ... a lot of those long pipes are just going to scrape the shit out of themselfs every time you go around a right hander ... the Bassini 2 into 1 Road Rage with the shorter megaphone are worth a look .

I definitly take the point of many here that dispise shorter pipes but a company like Akroprovic who have been around for awhile now and certanily know a thing or two about pipes and performance must know what they are talking about if they have gone to the effort of producing a pipe .

If it wasn`t for the fact that the Missus would shoot me if i said she coudn`t come for rides anymore i would have the Freedom Outlaws on in a Flash ... i have them on my 99 Springer and they hit all the benchmarks ... great clearance ... great price , out of M&M Cycles , Ohio ... Great Sound especially when they come on song , nice and sedate down low but beauitful deep scream when giving it to the old girl ... and of course a Great look ... of course those last 2 points are in my humble opinion .
