I've never actually been on one. Went down last year to see all the bikes at the start but didn't go in because of other commitments. Friends of mine that have been on it agree with you, ie good to get in somewhere other than the start at Glenelg. I might see if I can joing in somewhere closer to the freeway. Anyway I'll keep an eye out for you.
